Martin Audio Pabellon UK Expo 2025

This space offers an interactive journey through four immersive rooms that come to life thanks to the inspiration of video mapping and spatial sound., whose main protagonists are the speakers of Martin Audio.

In addition to being present at the Expo Arena Matsuri of the Expo 2025 they Osaka, the speakers Martin Audio are also displayed in the United Kingdom Pavilion, where dave parry, audio system designer and spatial sound consultant, has equipped the visitor experience working for Immersive International, exhibition planner and designer.

The initiative was led by the UK Department of Business and Trade., whose objective is to promote trade and understanding with Japan. design contractors, construction, maintenance and construction are ES Global.

The United Kingdom Pavilion at the Expo 2025, event that can be seen until November, It has been built using the innovative Global Modular System (GMS) and a low-impact foundation without concrete, prioritizing adaptability and sustainability. Designed for future use, its structure will be reused after the event, reducing waste and promoting the circular economy.

After winning the tender, Immersive International has been responsible for the creation of a comprehensive conceptual design and strategy, including interior design and pet design (the children's character PIX), and content animation production.

This interactive journey, guided by a story, that takes visitors through four immersive rooms brought to life thanks to the inspiration of a videomapping and a solution of spatial sound.

“The idea was to present the United Kingdom as an attractive place to visit, study or do business, to a predominantly Japanese audience”, explains Thomas Ludwig, director of architectural services and innovation at Immersive International.

Dave Parry's long relationship with the Immersive International team - then Pixel Addicts- dates back almost two decades, when they collaborated at the Matter nightclub at the O2.

“We have complete confidence in Dave, after more than 15 years of working together”, says Ludewig. “He provided us with continuous support during the supervision and management phases, from design development to on-site delivery, ensuring that their vision and aspirations were realized for the final installation”.

Inspired by children's building blocks, the animated character PIX accompanies visitors during the 20 minutes of the experience. This was developed from the visual language of pixels, inspired by the fact that when small blocks or ideas come together, great things can happen.

In the different areas of the Pavilion, sound is a crucial element. Dave Parry turned to various Martin Audio solutions, adapting to the requirements and limitations of each space (working within a beam-structured interior and with the challenge that the speakers had to be architecturally hidden).

The narration has been combined with a soundtrack composed by We Sound Loud. “An important part of their work was to develop a version adapted for sensory mode, as well as produce audio descriptions, available in both Japanese and English for those visiting the Pavilion with special needs”, Ludewig points out..

When he embarked on the project two years ago, Dave Parry insisted on using British speakers. “I opted for Martin Audio because I knew the people there. they had Research line y TiMax in the group, so I was able to integrate everything into one family, knowing it would sound wonderful”.

Worked in collaboration with Simon Honywill, by Martin Audio, to mitigate the sound reflections typical of a temporary construction of this nature. “We passed the prediction through Ease to determine where the reflections would occur”.

“I knew that once the speakers were installed, the sound would spread throughout the building”. Isolation was essential, so it mainly adopted Blackline XP, “because it is self-powered and much easier in this application than using amplifiers”, continues explaining Honywill.

The show control system was developed in collaboration with Dan Sloane and Creative Technology to manage all video content, lighting and audio during the visitor's journey.

This system allows guides to activate content on a room-by-room basis to account for varying pulse times and even run a lighting-based cueing system., indicating when visitors can move on to the next room. Each one is independent, allowing them to operate in parallel, all at the same time.

Of the areas, the crypt has four C8.1 ceiling speakers, but in the exhibition space, the presence of a projection screen of 20 meters with angular subscreens and the nature of visitor flow presented location challenges.

“We couldn't use smaller speakers because there was nowhere to hang them, so we use eight XP12, located further back with a pair of subwoofers XP118. All of them had to be hidden in an LED projection environment”.

At the PIX hall, and cube of 1,8 meters on a projection platform, left the audio specialist with even clearer doubts. His solution was to install 16 C6.8T ceiling speakers and a couple of subwoofers SX212, knowing that using a large amount could guarantee good coverage.

The area known as 'The End’ is a crescendo of sound that reflects the inspiring nature of the script. Six were detailed Blackline XP12 more and a pair of XP118 subwoofers.

To complete the speaker set, one by one FlexPoint FP8 are located in the entrance hall and two CDD6 in the PIX lobby. All passive speakers are powered by a pair of Linea Research amplifiers of 8 canales.
