Jovanotti trusts in the power of d&b audiotechnik GSL para su gira
The sound system, consisting of GSL and XSL speakers from the SL series d&b audiotechnik, has supplied the quality, the power and control demanded by this Italian singer and songwriter during his recent 'PalaJova' tour.
The long-awaited return of the well-known Italian performer Jovanotti with the concert tour PalaJova for his country he has counted on the work of the veteran sound technician Pino 'Pinaxa' Pischetola, that has used equipment from the SL series from d&b audiotechnik to offer pleasant audio, uniform and powerful.
Like many of the shows before this tour, the sound solution the system designer chose Antonio Paoluzi and Pino ‘Pinaxa’ Pischetola had to meet some demanding requirements, just as Jovanotti himself wanted: “a sound that was powerful, with enough volume to make the ears of the audience vibrate”.
With extensive experience in large tours and festivals, This was the first time that Paoluzi used GLS in a production as long as PalaJova. “Thanks to the many tools provided by the manufacturer, the final result was excellent -remember-. The virtual project was created with d&b ArrayCalc and it coincided almost perfectly with what we experienced in situ, which made configuration and adjustments very simple”.
Although the configuration of the system was modified a little depending on the size and height of the different rooms (all of them covered), at maximum deployment, included sixteen GSL speakers for center clusters left and right (con four GSL12 models in 120° dispersion for him downfill), to which another twelve enclosures were added, located on each side as fills sides, y diez riggings XSL by side like delay for specific parts of the show.
For the serious, the option was to place in an arch twenty SL-SUB in double stack on the floor across the front of the stage (of 24 meters wide), while ten Y10P point source speakers of d&b (located above subwoofer clusters) they provided the frontfill.
What had to be a fairly standard arrangement arrangement was complicated by one of the show's most notable scenic details.: nails moving parts, as capsules equipped with “electrified flowers” that, although they created a spectacular effect, sometimes obstructed the sound of the main PA system.
“When the flowers get between the main cluster and the public, little magic can be done; inevitably the sound suffers”, says Paoluzi, that the only viable solution was to use two clusters of fill additional, which guaranteed a full sound for both Pinaxa in FoH and for the sections of the audience blocked by these elements.
“The situation changed in each precinct, because the position of these mobile structures and the flowers varied in each pavilion -he adds-. Along with 'Josh' (Giorgio 'Josh' Geromin, tour lighting designer), We always try to find the perfect middle ground and, at the same time, respect the stage dynamics and the needs of the show”.
Paoluzi's experience was decisive in achieving the sound result that, even in the most complicated spaces, It left both the public and the professionals involved totally satisfied.. “One of the features of this system that I liked the most is that sounds perfect right away, with a powerful sound what, in general, “Everyone likes it.”.
Paoluzi also praises the controlled directivitya of d SL series boxes&b audio, which “is also very suitable for use in covered areas, because it is controlled very well at the rear”.
