Teatro Harmonie L-Acoustics

The compact L2D arrays of L-Acoustics offer sharpness and clarity of voice, as well as musical details, in this historic scenic area in the Netherlands, who just renewed his sound system.

For almost three decades, he Teatro Harmonie offers a varied range of stage and musical shows that attracts mainly audiences from the Netherlands. It is rmultifunctional precinct houses three auditoriums, among which stands out the versatile Rabozaal, with capacity for 458 personas, that easily transforms to hold up to 850 people standing at live music events.

A recent Comprehensive upgrade of your audio system has improved both its technical capacity and the public experience in its extensive program of events with the L series installation from the manufacturer L-Acoustics.

Teatro Harmonie L-Acoustics“The resulting system delivers the audio experience modern audiences expect., with the L Series providing the power and precision needed for contemporary live sound applications.”, explains René van der Linden, responsible for Fairlight, certified L-Acoustics supplier in the Netherlands.

The new audio installationimproves both voice intelligibility and musical performance, ensuring that every seat in the venue receives consistent, high-quality sound.”, assures.

One of the first validations occurred during the first weekend of operation of the system, when three very different events put the new equipment to the test: a guitar festival 80 with standing audience, a seated cabaret show and an international soul show.

“Visiting sound engineers at all three events especially praised the audio system and its uniform coverage, something they had not experienced before with such consistent quality, remember Chris Mertens, technical partner of Mertens AVR and responsible for the design, installation and system integration.

The selection of the L Series was especially strategic for Harmonie's specific needs: “was specifically chosen for its compact size, which minimizes visual impact and preserves crucial sight lines -explains Mertens-. They are lightweight construction and easy assembly “They are ideal for truss configurations and locations with limited anchor points.”.

Teatro Harmonie L-AcousticsAnother equally important consideration is “your credentials.” sustainability improved, with a lower material consumption compared to traditional systems and a greater energy efficiency, that were aligned with the environmental objectives of the venue”, duck.

The installation process required careful consideration of the architectural features of the site, including rigid reflective walls and front balconies, typical of Harmonie theater design.

The system had to adapt to three different configurations (sitting, standing and balcony), while optimizing speaker placement to offer complete coverage, without obstructing visibility.

“The directional nature of the L Series was especially beneficial in managing the venue's reflective surfaces., helping to minimize unwanted reflections that could compromise sound quality - points out Mertens -. Precise system control allows engineers to focus energy exactly where it is needed, avoiding problematic interactions in the room”.

The software Sound vision of L-Acoustics played an essential role in the design process, allowing Mertens to perform digital simulations of speaker position and optimize coverage and sound pressure level (SPL) of the room.

Soundvision helped identify and address problematic reflections early in the design, which allowed the team to test alternative configurations and balance uniformity, clarity and visual aesthetics before beginning installation.

The final configuration of the system installed by Mertens AVR, in collaboration with Fairlight, consists of L2D line array loudspeakers individual hanging left and right, that provide the main coverage of the auditorium, which are complemented by four subwoofers KS21i, two on each side, for low frequency base.

To guarantee complete coverage of the area of action, three have been installed A10 speakers hung centrally above the stage, with two additional units providing extensive infill coverage to eliminate any gaps and maintain consistent audio quality throughout the venue's flexible seating configuration.
