Les Salles du Carrousel reinforces its events with the sound of d&b audio
In addition to the cardioid CCL line array of d&b audio, have invested in 10 CCL-SUB compact subwoofers, which are completely movable; 20 frontfills 44S y 10 E8 speakers. The foyer area has been equipped with five 24C column speakers, painted in a custom color that play background music, announcements and vocal reinforcement.
Inside the Palace of the Louvre, in the center of Paris and just a few steps from Place Vendôme, The Carrousel Rooms It is one of the most prestigious destinations in the capital to attend events, and has been one of the first venues in Europe to install the new CCL system of d&b audiotechnik.
Selected by Magnum for its power mix, architectural precision and elegance, its directivity control and cardioid technologies, the CCL system of d&b offers great clarity for every type of event in one of the most famous environments in the world.
Les Salles du Carrousel is located beneath the Louvre's iconic glass pyramid, in the center of Paris, and offers 6.635 square meters of interior modular space to host events of all types and sizes.
Viparis is the management company of this space and for years it has had the company's expert advice Magnum, French audiovisual provider, to provide audiovisual solutions that raise the prestige and excellence of the events it offers.
When it was time to renew the audio system, Magnum selected the new CCL system (of compact cardioid in-line array) of d&b audiotechnik to elevate the venue's audio quality and respect the sustainability criteria of viparis y Magnum.
“Although the previous system still worked well, “It was more than ten years old and was beginning to show signs of wear.”, explains Eduard Dubus, who is in charge of the technical team at Magnum. “We thought about replacing it with something more modern and unnoticed to cater for the wide variety of events that take place at Les Salles du Carrousel.. After much debate and several demonstrations, It became clear that the CCL system of d&b was exactly what we needed”.
Magnum equipped three spaces with the new CCL system: the Delorme and Le Nôtre rooms, with a capacity each of up to 2.500 spectators, and the Gabriel room, a smaller space located directly behind Delorme that can be opened to form a single larger room.
In those three spaces, The challenge was a combination of low ceilings and reflective wood floors that generated unwanted sound reflections.. Magnum also wanted a compact solution that required fewer speakers than the previous point source system., which was much more visible.
“Our new CCL system meets all Magnum requirements and significantly improves sound quality, intelligibility and visual impact”, explains Boris Jaquier-Laforge, technical director of the d project&b. “Directivity control and cardioid design are relevant features, because they mean there is very little excitement behind the speaker and have made a huge difference to the sound quality at Salles du Carrousel”.
In collaboration with d&b, Magnum selected clusters of three CCL12s as a basic configuration mounted on trusses specially designed to follow the curvature of the roof. These also house the lighting equipment.
The largest rooms have seven clusters each, organized in three rows, with the two below along the entire length of the room, plus the central cluster. The smallest space has four clusters in two rows. All clusters are powered by D40 amplifiers of d&b.
“We prefer to use small clusters of only three boxes each to cover short distances since, thus, “The system is much more modular and flexible and is visually much less imposing than larger arrangements.”, said Dubus. “Precise laser directivity and almost complete absence of backspill are achieved thanks to the cardioid design. “Now we can really place the sound precisely where we want it and the reflections have been significantly reduced.”.
“For us it has been like taking a trip, because the workflow d&b Workflow is very different from anything we have used over the last decade”, Dubus continues, “But the results are excellent.”, the same as the d service&b, who has accompanied us every step of that journey. "We couldn't have imagined anything better.".
In addition to the CCL system, Magnum also invested in 10 CCL-SUB compact subwoofers which are completely movable, in addition to 20 frontfills 44S y 10 E8 speakers, very versatile, used as stage monitors. Finally, Magnum also equipped the foyer area with five 24C column speakers painted in a custom color that play background music, announcements and vocal reinforcement.
