Virginia Tech installs six Daktronics LED video screens at Cassell Coliseum
Daktronics was commissioned by Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) to fabricate and install two main video screens and four side video screens at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg (Virginia, EU).
Jed Castro, senior associate director of athletics, Virginia Tech production and multimedia, points out that “The new Daktronics video screens at the Cassell Coliseum have been a radical change for our fans. They are huge and shiny. And although our stadium cannot support a central screen, when you enter it, your attention is automatically drawn to HokieVision, gracias a Daktronics”.
“The design is exclusive to our venue and has allowed us to maintain statistics throughout the match, something our fans have been asking for for several years. We have also added more space, and more workspace, so our media rights partner can sell, allowing you to display more than just a logo. With these screens and the creativity of our staff and our students, We haven't even begun to scratch the surface of what we can do to improve our fans' experience.. It may be the Colosseum's biggest improvement in its 60 years of history”, duck.
Cassell Coliseum's main video screens measure approximately 7,4 meters high by 13,4 meters wide and have a pixel separation 3,9 millimeters to provide images and crisp graphics to student-athletes and fans. They are capable of dividing the content into variable zones, so each can display multiple video zones, repetitions, statistics, match information and sponsor messages.
A new atmosphere
Charley Bocklet, director regional de Daktronics, states that “Daktronics is proud to be part of these improvements to the LED screens at Cassell Coliseum. Fans will definitely enjoy the larger, high-resolution screens, creating a whole new atmosphere for the Hokie Nation. These improvements follow the scoreboard updates that Daktronics provided last year and the change has been a transformation for the fan experience”.
Flanking the main screens hay four side screens, two at each end of the stadium. The four side screens measure approximately 3,5 meters high by 5,5 meters wide and all have the same pixel spacing of 3,9 millimeters than main video screens. These screens are used to provide supplementary information, graphics and messaging to meet the needs of Virginia Tech Athletics and any events held at Cassell Coliseum.
On the other hand, Daktronics included a complete show control in this project. Show Control offers a combination of display control software, first class video processing, Integration of data and playback hardware for a powerful, easy-to-use production solution. Completan el proyecto seis paneles de identificación retroiluminados, seis relojes para vestuarios y cuatro relojes de tiro con iluminación.
