Ivan del Rio

LED technology continues to evolve towards more compact solutions, efficient and versatile. An ISE 2026, Ivan del Rio, South Europe Regional Manager en Daktronics, In this video interview, presents a battery of new developments that range from high-resolution screens for indoors to solutions for street furniture and large installations in stadiums..

Daktronics ISE 2026As Del Río explains, The main protagonist of the stand this year is the COB technology (Chip on Board), which is experiencing strong growth in market demand thanks to its image quality and robustness. Daktronics has expanded its catalog of COB displays with resolutions ranging from 0.7 mm up to 2.5 mm, designed mainly for indoor applications. This type of technology stands out for its resistance and for offering a more uniform and lasting image versus traditional LED solutions. The growing market interest in this type of solutions responds to the need for high pixel density displays, robust and reliable, especially in commercial environments, corporate or control.

Daktronics ISE 2026Another notable novelty is a new range of digital mupis for outdoors that use semi-outdoor COB technology and reach up to 4000 brightness nits. The company also introduces a flexible marketing model through display kits, that allow it to be integrated into existing street furniture without the need to supply the complete structure. “We develop a series of screen kits with different sizes and configurations that can be incorporated into the street furniture that the client already has.”, Del Río stands out.

Daktronics is also betting on the updating existing facilities with the DVXU series, designed to modernize outdoor screens that are approaching the end of their useful life (approximately 10 years). The system allows you to replace only the electronics and LED modules, maintaining the original structure and avoiding structural works or modifications. “We only remove all the electronics, all the LED modules and replaced them with the new ones”, points out.

One of the recent examples of this strategy is the update of the emblematic El Corte Inglés screen in the Plaza del Callao in Madrid, renovated last summer.

Chip on Glass: the next generation

Among the most advanced innovations presented at ISE is the development of Chip on Glass, a technology in the final phase of testing before mass production. In this system, The LED diode is fixed directly on a glass with rear microelectronics, which allows creating screens that are even thinner than COB, with very high contrast levels.

This technology aims to become one of the next steps in the evolution of LED screens, especially in applications where the Ultra-thin design and visual quality are priority.

Muse Real MadridOn the other hand, It should be noted that the sports segment continues to be one of the most important areas for the company. Daktronics is positioning itself as one of the main suppliers of 360º LED rings (halo boards) in large stadiums. Among the notable projects are: the expansion of the screens of the estadio Santiago Bernabéu, with the installation of a second LED ring scheduled for July; the gigantic double-sided screen of 3550 m² in the Intuit Dome Arena in Los Angeles, home of the LA Clippers; and the future Ring of Fire of the new stadium Tennessee Titans, planned for 2027, con 390 meters in length.
