Stand-up comedian Jimmy Carr has deployed the sound system Coda Audio on his 'Laughs Funny' tour, that has passed through great theaters, auditoriums and pavilions of the United States, Europe and his native United Kingdom.

Famous for its black humor and for his ability to improvise, Jimmy Carr continues his world tour, in which he shows off his ability as monologist and combines it with improvisation fragments in which it demonstrates its versatility to adapt to all types of situations. His popularity has led him to make the leap to large venues, which are not always adapted to ensure the essential intelligibility What does this type of event require?.

To meet these challenges in the British section, the event production company Adlib decided to deploy using the line array system 3 ways AiRAY, bi-amplified, high power and long range, and with the high-power three-way passive line array system CIRAY. Billy Bryson was the technician responsible for the deployment: “We combined AiRAY with CiRAY for this show, which allowed us flexibility when designing for each venue, while we adapted to a small space. The phase linearity and coherent wavefront of the system (thanks to the DDP mid-high driver) “They resulted in clean and intelligible sound in all seats in the venue”.

The show was held in circular shape, with the stage located in the center of the pavilions. Bryson and his team installed a total of eight Coda Audio AiRAY and CiRAY arrays suspended in the four “corners” of the setup, using a combination of couplers 90° y 120° to balance long-range SPL and near-field coverage. To save on long cable runs, These were powered by amplifiers Linus14 suspended: six in each corner. Besides, four speakers were hung Hops 10-Pro on Doughty modular arms between each set, which served as central fillings, with the wiring integrated into the lighting and video system that Adlib also supplied.

These systems were powered by a four channel DSP amplifier Linus14, located at the end of the common cable bridge girder. The system was completed with twelve speakers HOPS8 placed along the edges of the stage.

Sam Cooknell, tour engineer, highly values the performance of Coda solutions: “The mix in the CODA Audio system has been consistent, day by day, room after room, and Jimmy's team has highly rated the intelligibility and gain before feedback achieved throughout the tour. The system sounded open and natural, so listening was very easy”.

David Webster, global sales and marketing director Coda Audio, duck: “Jimmy Carr is without a doubt one of the best comedians in the United Kingdom, so it's great to see Adlib using a Coda Audio system to take on another high-profile stadium comedy tour. The clarity and flexibility of the VCA family of speakers makes them ideal for events like these, in which every word must be heard in every seat in the room”.
