From chaos to centralization: Andean Area redefines its AV management with Kramer
A wide selection of solutions Kramer allows the University Foundation of the Andean Area of Colombia create a more connected experience on campus by centralizing audiovisual management.
Founded in 1983, the University Foundation of the Andean Area It was created with the objective of expanding access to high-quality higher education in Colombia. Since then, has developed a flexible and innovative educational model with presence in several cities and an academic offer that covers both face-to-face and virtual teaching.
The university's mission focuses on training undergraduate and graduate students in a wide range of disciplines, while promoting the digital transformation, educational innovation and institutional analysis. As part of that broader transformation, the university launched Rauda, your audiovisual network initiative, to modernize and unify audiovisual experiences across campuses.
Before the Phase 1 by Rauda, The University Foundation of the Andean Area was facing a fragmented audiovisual environment. Classrooms used touch screens, while the corridors and reception areas depended on commercial displays for digital signage, but the systems were not managed centrally. The supervision and support They were decentralized, and the user experience could vary from one space to another.
The National Directorate of Technological Innovation of the university set out to address the lack of standardization throughout the audiovisual environment. Among the main challenges were found visibility limited equipment performance, las academic experiences inconsistent and slow response times when problems arose. The goal was to create a centralized environment and more efficient that simplifies control, strengthen real-time monitoring and support, and offer a more consistent experience for faculty and students.
Kramer at the Andean Area University Foundation
The University Foundation of the Andean Area collaborated with Merge, systems integrator, to implement the Phase 1 by Rauda on their campuses Bogota, Pereira and Valledupar. The project connected classes, auditoriums, meeting spaces and digital signage points through an architecture OFF over IP centralized.
At the core of the solution were the encoders Kramer KDS-EN7 and decoders KDS-DEC7, that allowed the distribution of content through the network, along with devices VIA GO 3 for wireless presentations and collaboration. To centralize management and control, The university also implemented KC Virtual Brain 5 y Panta Rhei, giving their teams greater visibility into system performance, supervision and support on different campuses.
VSM on Cloud added centralized cloud-based management, while a dedicated network infrastructure, built around switches Netgear M4250, supported overall implementation. Units were also included TP-583TXR as part of the installation.
The solution also integrated commercial monitors LG 65UR640 for digital signage. Merge shuffled other suppliers, but chose Kramer for the “reliability of its AV over IP solution and the solidity of its local support in Colombia”. The system went into operation in February 2025 after an implementation process of approximately two or three months.
A before and after at the Andean Area University Foundation
The solution of Kramer gave the Andean Area University Foundation the ability to manage its audiovisual infrastructure and its digital signage in a more “centralized and efficient” way. With the control and monitoring in real time from a single platform, the university can now optimize support, Improve visibility into system performance and maintain a more consistent user experience across sites.
From the operational point of view, The university highlights benefits such as reducing incident response times and reducing on-site technical visits. The implementation has also enabled new capabilities that were not possible before. In particular, the university can now manage the digital signage in time real and distribute audiovisual messages to high traffic spaces, which makes institutional communications more agile, specific and strategic.
The university especially values the ability to centralize and simplify management of all spaces from a single platform, while maintaining reliability, real-time control and a consistent user experience. He also described the solution as “easy to use.”, with a intuitive interface which reduces the learning curve and helps users operate the system efficiently.
From the point of view of Merge, Kramer's support was a key factor in the success of the project. The integrator noted that Kramer provided support from the design phase to implementation and final configuration, including assistance in Panta Rhei configuration and control integration. Merge rated Kramer a “five out of five” as a supplier and partner, and described the brand as “a solid choice for AV over IP platforms, reporting and management.”
