Dynamic advertising that encourages energy savings
BC Hydro, the largest electricity supplier in British Columbia (Canada) has carried out, in collaboration with the DDB Vancouver agency, an original campaign on bus shelters to raise awareness about saving electricity through a mupi with a motion sensor that only lights up when someone observes it.
BC Hydro, the third largest Canadian electricity supply company, has launched a comprehensive campaign, under the title of 'BC Hydro Power Smart', that promotes the production of clean energy and energy savings. According to the magazine Informa BTL, the electric company has commissioned the agency DDB Vancouver the development of various out-of-home actions to create awareness about the issue and promote a culture of saving and caring for resources.
One of the actions has consisted of the installation of a series of mupis at bus stops equipped with motion sensors. The interesting thing about the idea is that the marquee remained off until a passer-by approached., then illuminating the advertisement and displaying a written message. The message on the billboard was “Turn off the lights when you are not using them” and achieved significant energy savings. 100 kwh.
