Gefen presents three new KVM video over IP extenders
The digital connectivity solutions provider, The edge, has added three new KVM extenders to its catalog -KVM HDMI over IP, KVM DVI over IP and KVM VGA over IP- that use video over IP technology to deliver audio, video, USB, microphone and RS-232 over a local area network (LAN).
KVM streaming signals (keyboard, video, mouse) over a Gigabit Ethernet infrastructure is the latest solution that The edge offers to improve accessibility in any part of the building. Three new solutions: HDMI over IP KVM Extenders, DVI KVM over IP and VGA KVM over IP offer an effective way to extend peripherals over CAT-5 cable to access computer video, audio and control from anywhere within the LAN. High definition video resolution up to 1080p is supported using the same CAT-5 cable with the added benefit of sending two channels of audio, Prohibited / microphone output, USB, RS-232 e IR.
Go to the side, president of Gefen, has highlighted that “any of these new KVM over IP extenders provide accessibility between different rooms, exchanging and disseminating information through up to 16 sender and receiver combinations. You can also place transmitter and receiver units up to 200 meters away via Gigabit switch for longer distances.”
Once installed, The sender and receiver units connect to each other using a CAT-5 cable or via the Ethernet switch. The transmitter and receiver units can be rack-mounted or simply placed as tabletop units. Receiver provides KVM functionality with audio using the same network. Two USB ports support connection of peripherals on the side of the receiver unit.
The three video formats of the extenders (VGA, DVI y HDMI) can be exchanged between sender and receiver on the same network, allowing for an easy multi-format system integration method. Each sender can also connect to multiple receivers when set to broadcast mode to deliver the same source to multiple destinations. Until 16 Senders and receivers can be used in a single network system.
For advanced users, sender and receiver units can be configured for unique IP addresses. Each receiver provides two independent Ethernet sockets for connecting transmitters, receivers or other additional IP-based equipment. Built-in EDID management ensures signal integrity throughout switching activity. HDMI KVM over LAN also supports HDCP.
