Wireless video surveillance 2011-2017 (Fuente: IHS Research)According to a study by IHS Research, The global market for wireless infrastructure equipment used in video surveillance applications could reach 705 millions of dollars in 2017.

Josh Woodhouse, IHS analyst for video surveillance, has assured that “as a relatively cheap solution compared to cable, Wireless infrastructure offers a low-cost option for those who want to establish surveillance networks. In regions with widespread video surveillance infrastructure such as the US. the United Kingdom, The adoption of wireless infrastructure for video surveillance is constantly growing. However, the new regions that do not have infrastructure, will also see the wireless video market grow strongly in the coming years”.

Global infrastructure for wireless video surveillance will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of the 17% from 2011 a 2017. Global growth will be led by China, with an impressive rate of 28,8% during this period. The second region with the most momentum in this area will be the rest of Asia, including India that will grow 27,9%. Mexico will increase its wireless networks by 23,1%, while Brazil will do so in a 17,4%. The rest of South America will grow by 26,6%.

The Asian market is now the smallest and least developed region in terms of wireless video surveillance infrastructure. However, Asia is expected to grow faster than the rest of the world in the coming years, thanks to the lack of surveillance infrastructure, along with the low cost of wireless system and the increasing demand for security.

Para IMS Research, Cisco Systems was the leading supplier of wireless infrastructure equipment used for video surveillance in the year 2012, with a fee of 11,7% of income in the world market.
