Touch screens, Voice commands and natural interaction mark Microsoft's connected future
“Technology can transform our lives at work, while traveling and at home. This is a vision of what the future will be like in five or ten years, where the physical and the technological will coexist together”, according to Microsoft.
With this vision, Microsoft has presented during the recent celebration of Red Hat Open Virtualization Tech Forum 2013, a video developed in its Envisioning Center, the center where the company develops its most innovative projects, in which he shows his technological vision for the years 2020 a 2025, in which touch screens are the main protagonists, in combination with other devices that facilitate people's interaction with the most common things in their daily lives.
Microsoft proposes an environment of touch screens and connected mobile devices in which “technology will simplify our senses, It will help us stay connected to the people we care about and transform the way we live., “We work and we have fun.”.
The Envisioning Center video is subtitled “Living, work, play", with images of the near future in work and home environments for the next five years and even a decade. The video focuses on a family and a work group that, They naturally use technology in their daily lives., either with touch screens projected on the wall, with a tablet on a Microsoft Surface table to which data is transferred, or with ultra-flat devices hung on the wall and mobile devices with which content is accessed online to contrast labor data, search for cooking recipes or check the weather, among other things.
The technological integration between devices is total and the interaction of people with them is simple and natural to perform multiple tasks through voice recognition to facilitate communication, sharing images and information from a tablet or smartphone with other systems installed in an office or home, as large screens as a visual wall, etc. to show that “the physical and the digital will come together”, as stated in the video.
Almost all of Microsoft's video focuses on working with the natural user interface (HUGE) developed by this company and its short-term evolution, that encourages more natural interaction with technology through voice commands, tactile, gestures,…
The video offers an everyday view of a family, from the work of those responsible for it to the interaction of the children in their school work, playing or visualizing and listening to the story that the grandparents tell them before going to sleep.
