Factoría del Mopófono carries out an architectural videomapping on the occasion of the Feira Franca de Pontevedra

Luz dos enxeños is a work that combines theater with the projection of an architectural videomapping, project for which Factoría del Mopófono used a Christie Roadster WU20K-J system.

With the motif of the Pontevedra Free Trade Fair, which is celebrated at the beginning of September, the Mopophone Factory, in collaboration with the company Kull d’Sac Artistic Productions and Troula Artistic Productions, performed a theater and architectural videomapping show in Plaza A Ferrería in Pontevedra.

Light of wits (In the light of inventions) It is a theatrical work of 45 minutes in length where the interpretation of the actors is combined with the projection of a large-format videomapping. “A show where the actors were not only extras but created very descriptive stage paintings interacting with the projected images, all this under the direction of Kull d'sac Artistic Productions. It is worth highlighting among the dramatized numbers circus scenes, of fire and mechanical percussion among others”, Rodrigo Tamariz and David Manso explain, founders of the Valladolid firm Factoría del Mopófono.

The theme chosen for the representation has been inventions, from the discovery of fire to the end of the renaissance.

Staging

The architectural videomapping was created through the software Food folders that allows 2D mapping of any architectural element, being able to change the point of view of the projector live through other playback programs such as the audiovisual interpretation tool Resolume Arena 4, which is the one used for this staging in Pontevedra. Thanks to this tool it is possible to observe the 3D and 2D effects created later, without deviation and with an exact adjustment to the viewer's point of view.

To create the images, 3D elements were incorporated and a system was used to carry out the projection. Christie Roadster WU20K-J. A three-chip DLP device offering WUXGA resolution (1920×1200) with a shine of 18.000 ANSI lumens and contrast 2.000:1. This system incorporates Xenon lamps and its lenses are specifically designed to increase the clarity of the image, which makes this projector ideal for a projection like the one we wanted to make in Luz dos enxeños..

For the audio, 40,000W of sound were used and 60,000W of light were required to create the strobe effects., lighting and environmental. The music was composed by Rodrigo Tamariz and David Manso from Factoría del Mapófono.

“In this show we invested more than two months of work of which we are especially proud and which, after so many mappings created, is the one that we believe has the highest quality and the most critical success it has received.. They participated in its staging with a personal cast of more than 80 people among technical staff, artistic and actors”, Tamariz and Manso comment.
