Audiovisual technology and LED screens to present the Dakar rally 2014
A gigantic LED screen 3,5 meters high located on the façade of the National Tourism Service building (It is sealed) Santiago de Chile has served as a platform to present the toughest sports competition in the world: Dakar 2014, that will cover more than 9.000 Km. for the sixth consecutive year in South America.
The presentation of the most important and toughest rally raid in the world, the Dakar, in its edition 2014 has had a huge LED screen 3,5 meters high that replicates the cover of Antofagasta, sponsored by the National Tourism Service of Chile (It is sealed) to promote the tourist attractions of this region taking advantage of the Dakar event 2014, that will cross the countries of Argentina, Bolivia and Chile.
This initiative has also served for this organization to explain in Santiago de Chile the various activities it will carry out in Calama and Antofagasta., venues during this sports competition, that will have two camps during the days 13 y 15 January, respectively, in order to promote its tourist attractions among Dakar followers 2014 and of the world, as Javier Vergara pointed out, general director of Sernatur.
Since the presentation of this competition, Sernatur has provided a bus with LED screens that will show both images of the Dakar 2014 as tourist places of interest in Antofagasta and Calama that will travel through both cities until the 15 January, date on which this campaign will end in the Antofagasta camp, Although the competition will end on 18 January.
El rally Dakar 2014, that will officially leave next 5 January from Rosario (Argentina), It has an extensive history of more than 9.000 Km. that will be carried out by expert pilots in the different categories of the competition: cars, motorcycles and trucks.
Mobile application
One of the new features this year is the Dakar.com mobile application so that all fans who wish can download it for free and follow the competition in real time., with permanent information from the start of each special until the arrival of the first trucks; access to the classifications and interviews of the main protagonists of each stage and all kinds of data and curiosities about the skills of the amateur pilots, expert runners and organization in the Dakar Mag section.
Besides, all the official videos of the rally (which in the last edition received around five million views) They will be available daily on the official website of the competition , as well as in the specialized chains created on the You Tube and Daily Motion platforms..
Audiovisual challenge and maximum coverage
During the two weeks of competition, more than 190 countries around the world will broadcast the shocking and exciting images of the Dakar 2014, an audiovisual technological challenge that gains audience every year and overcomes the coverage and media challenges deployed by the different channels involved.
For example, Fox Sports, who has participated in this rally since its origins in Africa, has reinforced media and global coverage, and in this edition it offers a local retransmission offline in Brazil and Chile, with daily programs dedicated to its national drivers, becoming the second medium with the most personnel deployed behind France TV.
As it is the first time that the competition travels through Bolivia, The public television network of this country has also deployed its means to incorporate the stages that are traveled in the country into its daily and live programming., in collaboration with the National Telecommunications Company (Entel).
In total and according to the organization's figures, currently the television device deployed to cover the Dakar 2014 is from 45 tons of material; three helicopters; five mobile units on the track; thirteen camera operators distributed throughout the race locations; eleven onboard camera systems; two super-idle cameras that offer 1.000 images/second; seven satellite antennas; 21 assembly tables, con 250 professionals deployed and 400 accredited journalists who will offer 120 programming hours (around 7,5 daily hours, of which 1,30 hours will be live) of them live.
