Samsung and Telefónica join their technologies to develop products and services for IoT

Integrate Telefónica's Thinking Things ecosystem with the advanced capabilities of Samsung devices, as well as allowing new forms of interaction within the field of IoT is the objective of the collaboration between both companies.

The Spanish R&D division of Samsung Electronics Iberia y Telefónica R&D have come together to research new technologies and the development of practical examples for the Internet of Things (IoT). Its objective is to take advantage of the integration of Telefónica's Thinking Things ecosystem with the advanced capabilities of Samsung devices, as well as allowing new forms of interaction within the field of IoT.

As a result of this collaboration, Samsung and Telefónica R&D are working on the development of two prototypes. The first of them integrates the modular Thinking Things solution with the capabilities of Samsung devices and sensor technology to identify new products and services.

The second prototype involves the development of a physical button that will be used to simplify the application of IoT capabilities in different environments..
Both companies focus their efforts on developing new ways to strengthen the interaction enabled by sensors for the IoT field such as presence control and regulation of temperature and humidity., that will be customizable and will be incorporated into Samsung devices.

The Industrial Internet will take advantage of increased computing and connectivity capabilities, as well as low-cost sensors provided by current and future technology, to join traditional industrial systems. This convergence will boost the global economy and the IoT space is expected to generate 15.000 additional millions of dollars in 15 years.
