Tech Data shares with more than 800 partners their business vision of value in MMe15
Growth above the wholesale market, of the 24% in front of 19%; the investment bet, resources and developments in the cloud environment, with tools and programs for the channel; The creation of a business unit around collaboration and new value contracts with manufacturers have been the messages that Tech Data has announced at its specialist event Metic Madrid 2015, and that mark the strategic lines for 2016.
The wholesaler Tech Data wanted to replicate in Madrid the success that it achieved only in Barcelona in its annual meeting with the channel with a specialist event, Metic Madrid 2015 (MMe15), in which it has brought together some eight hundred professionals from the sector. “It is an atypical event to our usual roadshow in Madrid, that we want to maintain as a point of contact with our partners, both clients and suppliers, and create a link between them.”, assured Oriol Cornudella, managing director of the Ibérica branch.
It is not surprising that 'Sharing a professional vision', was the motto of the event, with a networking structure and round tables on cloud, collaboration, mobility and safety, that the Tech Data managers also transmitted to the specialized press, with a first announcement of the change of corporate image, “with a more modern logo and color” for all brands.
As far as business is concerned, Cornudella highlighted the growth of the company, of the 24% regarding 2014, above the 19% from the wholesale market, providing Context data, “and that is important, taking into account that Spain is being very efficient in the distribution business in Europe, performing a 20% of movement through wholesalers. This is a good message for everyone, for the sector, “which allows us to invest in resources and processes to offer a better service to the channel”.
Mobility is the fastest growing area (more than 60%), followed by value businesses with solutions for vertical markets, as Maverick for the professional AV sector and with an increase in 35%, Datech in the area of graphic design (20%) and Azlan (10%), “which show us that we are doing well in volume and value”, this manager assures.
Investment in cloud and collaboration
Among the strategic lines of the wholesaler in 2015, Cornudella highlighted the investment in the cloud environment, “where we are a reference, with specialized equipment, such as the signing of Martí Figols as business director of Cloud Iberia, and with resources. At the moment there is not much sales margin in this business through wholesalers because it is very complex and classic resellers have to adapt to this new environment., train and invest”.
The company has developed a tool to make it easier for the channel to generate cloud services with Stream One, in addition to the launch of the Tech Data as a Services program (TDaaS), carried out with the collaboration of a dozen manufacturers to enhance the cloud business “and reach the 3.500 managed service providers (MSP) that exist in Spain”.
The Tech Data manager also highlighted the value and business contracts made this year, like the one signed with Dell; with Symantec in the security environment or Sandisk, in the corporate area. Also new is the commitment to integrated solutions in the collaboration environment through the contract with Microsoft, with the presentation at MMe15 of Surface Hub “with a B2B commitment and with resellers specialized in integrated multi-manufacturer solutions”.
A different case is the contract with Sony, by which the wholesaler will manage the inventory of this manufacturer and logistical support, just like he did with Philips, “which will mean some 250 million euros in volume”, assures Cornuella.
The forecasts for next year involve strengthening these strategic lines and promoting the Internet of Things business. (IoT), “with very divergent associated products and services and understand where the profitable business is. Our intention is to continue growing at the same pace, around 24-25%”, Paulí Amat points out on this occasion, country manager de Tech Data España.
