The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is a sports complex that was built for the Olympic and Paralympic Games of 2012. Located east of London, It hosts several sports venues such as the Aquatic Center and the Olympic Stadium.

For the latter, we have selected Daktronics to design, manufacture and install a curved LED screen 1.128 square meters, which is located above the entrance door. It is shown as the largest LED in Europe and is mounted so that it is slightly inclined downwards so that it can be easily visible from the ground.

“We hope that this Led screen, the largest in Europe, becomes an iconic element for visitors who come to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It will serve to inform and entertain our customers while offering added value to our business partners., sponsors of events and community groups. Our challenge now is to use this screen and get the most out of it by displaying content that further improves the experience of sports fans., “concert-goers and corporate clients”, comments Linda Lennon, Chief Executive del London Stadium.

The marquee of this large format screen measures 13,9 meters high by 81,2 meters wide, providing a spectacular digital canvas to people attending events or passing by the stadium. With a design of 15 high resolution pixels, This display offers a high level of brightness capable of withstanding direct sunlight, showing images of great contrast and color depth.

This display solution not only stands out for its dimensions of more than a thousand square meters but also for its curved format., embedded in a cone-shaped structure that tilts forward. “It is a development carried out half in the shape of an angle, "which appears horizontal along the top and bottom and vertical at each end", explains Ewan Prentice, Sales Representative de Daktronics.

With this inclined configuration, traditionally generated content would be distorted, elongated and curved. To avoid this problem, Daktronics has created templates and guidelines that help the creative team produce content that adapts to the curvature of the screen.

For installation, process in which the EDS company participated, The Venus Pro management and control software has been used, which provides great flexibility when programming content..
