virtual reality to 30.000 feet high to promote the Lebaniego Jubilee Year
The Government of Cantabria and the airline Vueling have offered an innovative experience to the passengers of flight VY1590 Barcelona-Santander, who during the journey used Samsung Gear VR glasses to take a virtual and immersive tour of the Lebaniego Trail.
With the aim of promoting Cantabria in Europe and, specifically, the Lebaniego Jubilee Year, which will start next 23 April, The government of this autonomous community has reached an agreement with the airline Vueling, which has decorated its Airbus A320 for this purpose, and has made a special flight in which virtual reality and a 360º video of the Lebaniego Way have been the protagonists.
The passengers of this peculiar flight, with blessed of Liébana included, have become, during the Barcelona-Santander route, in unique technological pilgrims using the Gear VR virtual glasses from Samsung to enjoy a virtual experience 30.000 feet tall, through a 360º video recorded entirely with a drone, of the most emblematic places of the 72 Km. that make up the Camino Lebaniego.
The video, five minutes long, specifically shows the main pilgrimage points: since its beginning in the Puente de la Maza (San Vicente de la Barquera) to the monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana, in the town of Camaleño, at the foot of the Picos de Europa, passing through Muñorrodero, where the Camino Lebaniego and the Camino de Santiago separate in the North, inter alia.
The agreement of Government of Cantabria with Vueling is the promotion of this region for a year with a plane from its fleet, with capacity for 180 passengers and specially decorated on the occasion of the Jubilee Year, that will travel 130 airports in europe.
