The ME Cabo San Lucas Hotel personalizes the sound system of its rooms with d&b audiotechnik

The infrastructure is made up of a complex system in which 8S speakers have been used, 5S y 10AL-D, as well as 10D and 30D amplifiers, and 12S and 18S-SUBs subwoofers in each of the rooms, while for the pool area the cardioid 27A-SUB has been chosen.

The ME Cabo San Lucas hotel is located at the tip of the Baja peninsula in Mexico and is part of the luxury chain group of the Meliá company.. Loudspeaker systems have been installed throughout the venue. d&b audiotechnik, including the bar, the two restaurants and the pool area.

“Depending on the priority of the specific season of the year and, more frequently, of the time of day, different systems and areas are turned on or off. The infrastructure is made up of a complex system whose design has been carried out by the company Hi Tech Audio.. “By choosing only components from the xA and xS Series of d installation loudspeakers&b, The sound personality has been unified throughout the hotel. One of the requirements was that guests only heard consistent, superior quality sound wherever they were in the hotel.. The idea behind this operation is a totally flexible multi-zone system. The pool, the open air restaurant, the beach, plus the bars inside and outside… All of this includes your own distributed systems with 8S speakers, 5S y 10AL-D y subwoofers&b at each location”, comments Mauricio Castro, acoustics expert at Hi Tech Audio.

In this project we have used, above all, the 12S and the 18S-SUBs, while for the pool area the cardioid 27A-SUB has been chosen.

“They are all powerful systems, Therefore, meticulous and stable control of the dispersion of the different boxes was essential to achieve the desired objective of offering the level that DJs appreciate but without disturbing the neighbors.. In the interior spaces the challenge was the low ceilings, especially at the bar, but the acoustics were quite neutral, so that, one more time, “Thanks to precise directivity we achieve the tonality and quality that was sought”, adds Castro.

Although in total there were almost seventy speakers, Castro only used ten amplifiers from the permanent installation range. With d amplifiers 10D and 30D&b all the channels needed to selectively drive the various speakers were obtained.

“Configure remote control interface R1 of d&b is simplicity personified and the interface provides a safe and easy multi-format platform regardless of which parts of the audio system are operating. I had to put some time and attention into time-aligning the entire system so that guests only notice subtle level changes as they move between different locations. But, once it was set up, the system, as a DJ would say, It is excellent”.

The hotel is working on a new offer designed by the Ibiza event production company Blue Marlin to celebrate events with prominent DJs”, Castro concludes. “Marlin is an event production company from Ibiza. And for this project they are using a D Series V system.&b for touring inline arrangements.
