Citybeacon uses Zytronic technology to create smart urban platforms in the Netherlands
The launch of this smart city project, which will begin with the deployment of twenty-five interactive kiosks in the Dutch city of Eindhoven, will help residents, visitors, companies and local governments to commit to their development.
Located in the South of the Netherlands, The city of Eindhoven has been chosen not only because it is a technological reference in Holland - home to the University of Technology, as well as the multinational Philips and one of the co-location centers of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)-, but for its innovation to initiate the first deployment for smart city services of digital kiosks of Citybeacon, equipped with screens and touch sensors Zytronic.
“Citybeacon was designed to connect the physical and digital worlds, in order to encourage connectivity and interaction in our daily lives, and the way in which people relate to each other and information - said its founder and CEO, Arthur van de Poll. By applying multiple technologies to urban furniture, we can create a smarter environment, safe and healthy. “We are especially excited that our first deployment will be in such an emblematic city in technology.”.
For this, The company has worked closely with OCP Solutions, outdoor public communication product developers. As its CEO points out, Marius van Lith, “The combination of next-generation connectivity with intuitive touch screens allows visitors and residents to access relevant information about the city and local businesses and experience their surroundings.”, “making cities smarter thanks to the combination of a range of technologies that are scalable for the future in one unit”.
This innovative equipment is based on a digital kiosk equipped with a robust touch screen 32 inches, equipped with Zytronic Zyfilm interactive film, so that the user can interact with all the guarantees, flexibility and security, that has integrated its local partner Telerex.
Zyfilm is a flexible polyester touch film incorporating Zytronic's patented multi-touch technology and is designed to be laminated to the back surface of a rigid transparent substrate., capable of detecting up to forty simultaneous contact points through a superposition of 10 mm thick or more.
The Citybeacon digital kiosk equips a 32” Zyfilm-based touch screen that allows easy access to local information, city services and addresses, which also integrates NFC technologies, RFID and Bluetooth based mobile payment and charging, so that users can send this information to and from the interactive kiosk, as well as download a free mobile application to have the services offered by Citybeacon at all times.
This equipment also incorporates two digital panels for outdoor advertising at the top., that also share information, such as public service announcements and local business promotions. Thanks to UV sensors and analytical management software, data on air quality and audience in that area are also obtained.
The smart lighting of the digital kiosk adjusts to environmental conditions and the cameras allow monitoring of public spaces. VOIP-enabled microphone and camera communication connects with emergency services, and Gigabit WiFi and 4G and 5G antennas improve coverage and connection for information sharing.
