Christie accompanied Quito at its Festival of Light and the projection of its mapping

Christie has shone again, for the third consecutive year, in the Quito Light Festival (Ecuador), the largest festival of lights in Latin America. Fifteen Roadster WU20K-J projectors made three video mapping possible on the facades of the city Cathedral and the churches of Santo Domingo and San Francisco.
This is the third festival of lights organized by the Municipality of Quito and which artistically illuminates the main historical buildings of the city.. This year coincided with the 40 anniversary of the declaration of Quito as Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The event was visited by 2,5 million people who toured the historic center for five nights.
The Ecuadorian rental company & staging 3Laser She was responsible for the party's mapping projections. The company had to face the challenges that this city presents to carry out outdoor screenings. They are 2.800 meters high and the high pollution suffered by the city directly affects the equipment.
“We have done tests with projectors of 18.000 WUXGA lumens and resolution from other brands, and the lamps lasted half as long because they lack filters; They only have filters for optics. The pollution then goes directly to the bulb and produces a black film on the glass., as well as dust on the reflector. Besides, a 2800 meters high, the fans spin faster and the air is lighter, which causes the projector sensors to indicate that the optical filter is clogged. For them to work without error, the filter must be removed., and that reduces the life of the optics due to dust.”, comments Ángel Cuesta, director of 3Laser.
For Ángel Cuesta, Christie projectors solve all these problems. “In the 156 mappings that we have made with them, They have always worked like new. And that some have more than 4.000 hours of use”.
The director of 3Laser also highlights Christie's 3DLP technology projectors for their size and weight “which are ideal for placing in uncomfortable places.”, In addition, they can work in portrait mode. In addition, image and color remain stable over time. And they are very quick to set up.”
