The Danley Sound accompanies visitors on their tour of Alcatraz
A new sound system consisting of Danley GO2 8CX speakers has been installed in the nine most important locations on Alcatraz Island., the Lectrosonics wireless microphone and the JBL CSA1120Z amplifier.
Alcatraz Island has become one of the biggest attractions in San Francisco. First it was a lighthouse, then a military base and later a penitentiary center. In 1972 became a national park and, hoy, It has become a historical site, operated by the National Park Service as part of Golden Gate National Park, attended by more than 2.000 visitors every day.
Recently, Local AV integrator San Francisco Audio has designed and installed a sound system, using the speakers Danley GO2 8CX fully air-conditioned, for the nine most important Alcatraz locations.
“There is a large volume of visitors who come to the island and instructors from the National Park Service offer tours explaining its characteristics and history.. We needed a solid outdoor speaker for the places where the monitors stop, and the Danley GO2 8CX sound well balanced and are designed to last”, explains Radley Hirsch, owner of San Francisco Audio.
Each station has a wireless microphone system Electrosonics, a Surge-X power conditioner, to retrofit Alcatraz's off-grid solar panel system and a small amplifier JBL CSA1120Z mono 120 watts.
This takes a line level input and balanced outputs to 8 ohms with a sleep circuit to minimize power use. “I found the best way to attach each Danley GO2 8CX to its pole was with a stainless steel U-bolt. There is no equalization, except a bass reduction of Lectrosonics transmitters, and the amp to speaker run is pretty short with a good gauge West Penn Wire. 12. Although the Danley GO2 8CX can handle a lot of power and deliver a lot of volume, We keep them to cover a group of twenty to two hundred people per spoken word.”, comments Hirsch.
