The COMM museum is reinvented as an interactive space with solutions from Philips Display
A complete interactive AV installation, with digital signage solutions from Philips Professional Display, stars in the technological renovation of this museum dedicated to communication in the Dutch city of The Hague.
Created in 1929 by a private stamp collector, the Museum of Communication in The Hague (COMM) shows mail history, philately, telegraphy and telephony, which from its humble beginnings has substantially increased its collections to become a reference in the Netherlands.
Rapid technological evolution has advanced the way we communicate and, without institutional support, the museum has undergone the most important change in its history, with a total renovation of its facilities and, mainly, Forward-thinking to offer your legacy in a more attractive way, attract more visitors and keep your doors open.
This important change of direction has motivated the transformation of COMM into much more than a museum. Maintaining its original Dutch heritage, its managers have worked with the team of Philips Professional Display to create and offer a more relevant approach in the way it shows the evolution of communication.
As a technological partner, Philips Professional Display provided its touch screens, interactive (with models from the series D-Line, T-Line y X-Line); digital content and an impressive video wall, composed of twenty-five panels of 55″ of the model BDL5588XC so that visitors can experience the impact of communication on a more personal level.
All these display systems are also used to attract more visitors through surprising digital montages., that allow some of its rooms to be used as facilities for presentations and events.
This is how Tobias Walraven assures him, CEO of COMM: “We worked with Philips to achieve a modern and avant-garde way to attract customers to our museum and show the communication legacy we have”.
Among other systems, The museum now has information panels so that visitors can interact with the interactive content of the museum's different exhibitions., through a complex arrangement of Philips Display touch screens.
Updating the content of these professional screens is very simple for museum managers, to adapt them to new and existing exhibitions, both on one and several visual devices, which has been integrated into the museum's content manager.
These systems are used throughout the museum as visual interactive learning stations, providing visitors with practical and dynamic content, so that each person learns at their own pace while getting directly involved in unique experiences. Added to this is a 75” interactive game screen., one of the most used in the museum by both children and adults.
One of the most impactful visual elements, located at the museum entrance, It is a great multipurpose video wall, configured with twenty-five high-resolution, low-power displays from Philips Display, which is also used for sponsor and event rental services, as part of the educational program, for both schools and business groups, which takes place in the meeting and conference rooms of the activities called COMM Live.
