Capital Cinema joins the transformation of movie theaters with the Samsung Onyx Led screen
The new era for movie theaters already announced by the manufacturer has reached one of the most important in China, with the installation of this huge Onyx 3D Cinema Led screen, of 14 meters wide.
Samsung Electronics has presented its large Led Onyx 3D Cinema screen in one of the five most important cinemas in China: Capital Cinema, in the Xicheng district in Beijing, “which represents a transcendental step in the film industry, as we mark the beginning of a new generation of cinema for the whole world”, Seog-gi Kim stated, executive vp. of visual display business at the Korean multinational.
As already mentioned Digital AV, Samsung first introduced Onyx in July 2017, with a model of about 10 meters wide. Now and in response to consumer demand to have ultra-large screens in movie theaters, and commercially to increase ticket sales the new Onyx model has been extended to 14 meters wide.
The Onyx Cinema Led screen adapts to the conditions of any movie theater, in addition to offering higher image quality, Superior technical performance and reliability compared to traditional projectors, as stated by the manufacturer.
Specifically, the screen of 14 meters installed in Capital Cinema combines 4K resolution, HDR image quality and 88fL maximum brightness level, almost six times more than a standard projector. Onyx is also certified for 3D and Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI), to offer greater flexibility to display a wide variety of content.

Samsung Onyx Led screens have already been installed through partnerships with Pacific Theaters in Los Angeles (EE. UU.) and at the Sihlcity theater at Arena Cinemas in Zurich (Swiss).
