Telefónica and Miss Caffeina take music to unexplored places using virtual reality
In collaboration with the startup YBVR, Telefónica and Miss Caffeina have developed Music at the Edge, an innovative immersive experience that combines video 360 with Edge Computing technology.
Telefónica y Miss Caffeine have developed an initiative that has allowed, more than a hundred people, live an immersive 360º video musical experience, using Edge Computing technology.
In Music At The Edge, music has been combined with technology to view streaming, through virtual reality glasses, a concert by the band Miss Caffeina recorded in 360º for the musical program Sesiones Movistar+.
“New video formats like 4K, 8K and VR/360° video are beginning to become a reality. Telefónica wants to be at the forefront of technology, which means developing new services and video content, and also, be prepared to meet the expected demand for these new formats. For this reason, We have begun to transform our network by betting on virtualization and Edge Computing, technology that we have been developing for nearly two years”, David del Val stands out, Director of Internal Innovation at Telefónica.
This experience, carried out in collaboration with the startup participated by Wind, YBVR (Yerba Buena VR), is based on Edge Computing technology that provides flexibility, cloud scalability and efficiency, while enabling low latencies and high throughput by processing data closer to where it was created, instead of sending them on long trips across the network.
To perform visualization, YBVR and Movistar+ have previously recorded and produced a musical performance by Miss Caffeina that will air in September on Sesiones Movistar+ (Movistar CineDoc&Roll – dial 31), program presented by Arturo Paniagua, with a format that mixes music and interviews.
