Robe's Led lighting enhances the latest Circus of Horrors show
The new circus rock opera production has a varied and powerful configuration of LED lighting from this manufacturer, according to the design of Juanjo Llorens.
The known Circus of Horrors is performing its fourth circus rock opera production –Apocalypse – The day after-, that combines the drama of the theater, the accelerated rhythm of rock and roll and the adrenaline of the circus. On tour through the main cities of Spain, after having premiered in Madrid, This work will also be presented internationally.
To light up this show, Designer Juanjo Llorens needed a flexible and powerful rig to create the atmosphere and impact necessary for this production., the result of which has been a total of 126 signature robotics Robe, con 24 MegaPointe luminaires, 24 Pointe, 24 Spider, 24 LedBeam 150, 24 ParFect 100 y 6 BMFL WashBeam.
The rental company Smart Fussion has been responsible for the supply of Robe's luminaires, in which in recent years it has invested regularly, through the Spanish distributor EES, and others that are used in this show.
Apocalypse – The day after It is the largest staging carried out by the Circus of Horrors and the third in which Juanjo Llorens has been lighting designer.. It includes a live band and a larger group of dancers, as well as acrobatics and impressive aerial movements, so more varied and powerful lighting has been required.
Another major change is that Circus of Horrors no longer uses a traditional big circus tent., but a huge structure of Italian shops that comprises the entire scene, as a stage, behind the scenes, technical facilities and auditorium, etc; which has meant a more complex lighting design.
One of the main elements of this production is a large Led screen, of 28 meters wide and 8 high, which like a cyclorama provides a digital stage and a variety of environmental backgrounds to the show, directed by Suso Silva. Precisely to achieve an optimal combination with the screen, the multifunctional Robe luminaires were chosen..
To facilitate the circus acts, a square rigging has been designed, and below a mother grid has been installed to create the upper lighting positions, limited to the 14 metros, where the Pointe luminaires have been installed, MegaPointe y Spiider.
As more space was needed for essential side lighting positions, Llorens has used the rigging structure that was built for the video screen, the effect of which is that the lights create a U-shaped frame above the stage.
Using brackets and support bars, side lights have been installed from the highest part of this structure to the ground, which is particularly effective in illuminating the chorus and dancers. For this purpose, the remaining LedBeam luminaires have been installed. 150 y ParFect.
