The two rooms that have this certification have S360 monitors for the LCR channels, four 1032Cs as surrounds and the same number of 8340 for upper plane channels. Low frequency content is handled by a subwoofer 7382, and the entire system is calibrated and controlled through Genelec GLM monitor management software.

The monitors Genelec SAM, including the high sound pressure level model S360, are the heart of two new rooms certified as Dolby Atmos Home Entertainment, in Telson.Tres60 (Madrid), the first in Spain to have this Dolby certification.

As part of the image and sound post-production area of Mediapro, Telson.Tres60 inaugurated these facilities in May 2019, and decided to update its monitoring capacity to better serve its clients.

“The system update was motivated by the demand of our clients; For example, Movistar asks for everything in Dolby Atmos. We must be able to adjust to the standards of each of these clients. This means that we have to generate much more material than before due to the different transmission formats, whether to a mobile phone or a smart television”, explains Ana Belén Martín, Sound Production Coordinator.

The Telson.Tres60 team, next to Unitecnic, the Mediapro engineering company that managed the installation, turned to local Genelec distributor, Audio-Technica Iberia, to get the monitoring solution 7.1.4.

S360 monitors for LCR channels were installed in both rooms., with four 1032C monitors as surrounds and the same number of 8340 to cover the channels of the upper plane. Low frequency content is handled by a subwoofer 7382, and the entire system is calibrated and controlled through Genelec monitor management software, GLM. So, the system is capable of providing the flexibility required to work with different standards.

“These are the only two Dolby Atmos Home rooms approved in Spain to work at 79 dB SPL monitoring level. Ricardo Viñas of Dolby was responsible for adjusting the rooms and equalizing them for the three required levels: 85 dB for cinema, 79 dB for Netflix and 82 dB for Telefónica”, adds Pelayo Gutiérrez, Sound supervisor and manager of the sound department for fiction at Telson.Tres60.

In addition to the two Dolby Atmos Home rooms, The facility has a room 7.1, of the 5.1, one foley and one film, which also benefits from Genelec monitor technology.
