The renovation project of the sound system of this American multi-use facility is an example of taking advantage of technical resources and investment in favor of the real needs of the venue, its users and public.

Away from the fame that their city has gained as the setting for movies and television series, the inhabitants of the small American town of Fargo, in North Dakota (EU), They live many of their moments of entertainment and emotions in Fargodome, a sports facility that hosts everything from university sporting events to musical concerts, corporate meetings, trade shows and even weddings.

To respond to this varied activity, the venue has renewed its audio system, installed in 2006, with the advice and integration of the specialist AVI Systems, you have chosen the new ArenaMatch DeltaQ line array from the manufacturer Bose Professional for this project.

built in 1992 on the grounds of North Dakota State University, Fargodome is owned by the City of Fargo and managed by the Fargodome Authority, a citizen commission made up of seven people.

During all these years the venue has been renovated in its different areas and currently has the capacity to accommodate 18.700 spectators in its sports arena format and even 25.000 for concerts or similar events.

Recently, The technicians in the audiovisual department began to have problems with the audio amplifiers, on many occasions during the live events themselves, so they were forced to solve problems, repair equipment or replace parts on an ongoing basis.

As it is a space owned by the city, The decision to renew the audio system had to consider the best use of the available technical resources and represent an economic investment that will ensure its long-term performance..

Matt Costello, Fargodome Technical Services Manager, has been responsible for carrying out this project, for which it trusted the experience and evaluation and design processes of AVI Systems, a renowned audiovisual systems integration company originally from North Dakota.

Thanks to its proven work methods, which include a plan for the development, design, integration and technical support throughout the process, The solution proposed by the specialist AVI Systems allowed the use of a good part of the existing infrastructure at Fargodome and reduced the downtime necessary to install the new audio system.

In the installation, all the existing fiber was used, CAT-5 cabling and software, while the obsolete amplifiers and speakers were replaced with new equipment from the manufacturer Bose Professional to improve the general sound of this space and provide a better audio experience to those attending the events held there..

In order to offer clear sound, intelligible, powerful and with excellent coverage, AVI Systems proposed using Bose's new ArenaMatch DeltaQ line array speaker system, combined with PowerMatch amplifiers, on a system connected via a Dante network.

In total, have been installed 98 ArenaMatch speaker modules in its three different models (ArenaMatch AM10, AM20, AM40) and with different nominal coverage patterns, six powerful RoomMatch subwoofers and 35 PowerMatch amplifiers, plus four PowerMatch Dante network cards.

Thanks to this new audio system, Currently Fargodome audio technicians are focused on providing the public with the best audio experience, instead of running around the campus to repair faulty equipment.

Fargodome visitors have noticed a radical improvement in sound and can now enjoy music from artists and listen to presenters in optimal quality. Besides, during college football games, Both the information transmitted by the announcers and the description of the infractions by the referees are heard clearly and every word is understood.

“The transition from our outdated audio system to a modern, easy-to-maintain one was extremely smooth,” recalls Matt Costello.. AVI Systems and Bose Professional worked with us to install the new equipment in a very short period of time, which was important so that we could balance our scheduled events”.

After installation, Costello assures that “the audio quality is much better; so much so that now there are times when we can use fewer speakers depending on the event. The new system has created a better experience for the end user”.
