Omron improves the digital experience of businesses with the Nexmosphere X-Eye sensor
This solution, which has been designed with the HVC-P2 image sensor, allows you to recognize data such as the age and gender of the people who are placed in front of an interactive screen or digital signage.
The Human Vision Sensor Omron Electronic Components has been heart used to develop a new digital signage accessory, aimed at the retail market, with which it is possible to know the gender and age of the clients.
The sensor Nexmosphere X-Eye Gender captures this data from those who stand in front of interactive displays and digital signage, allowing content to adjust appropriately and fully comply with GDPR regulations.
“Retail is continually reinventing itself, and we are helping them create new and better digital experiences. A good sales assistant directs customers to products and promotions relevant to them.. With X-Eye we can now do the same with digital content. “Our goal was to take a standard sensor and develop a solution that can be connected without requiring configuration.”, commenta Hubert van Doorne, Director of Business Development at Nexmosphere.
Según van Doorne, have used the Omron HVC because many of their customers already had a positive opinion about this sensor. “Provides complete and easily accessible information without the need for configuration, Internet connection or software license, unlike many of the alternatives we consider”.
The main challenge they faced when designing with the HVC-P2 was choosing between the wide variety of image recognition features available. “We initially focused on the data that would benefit merchants the most., but we are looking to expand the functionality in the future. Genre detection is valuable to ensure the right content is displayed at the right time, and age estimation helps analyze the demographics of the person in front of the screen”.
Nexmosphere's goal in creating the X-Eye was to deliver a small unit, easy to integrate and non-intrusive that was completely autonomous, No Internet connection or software license fees required.
The Omron HVC-P2 provided the core of this solution, handling all the complexity of seeing and recognizing faces, bodies and gestures. Its implementation is simple and is done through UART or USB.
All the integrator needs is to read the data output and program the system to react appropriately.. Nexmosphere has blocked access to the image at the hardware level, ensuring GDPR compliance even if the drive's software is hacked.
The X-Eye Gender sensor is part of the Nexmosphere XY range, designed to detect presence in front of interactive screens. Offers a level of confidence in the accuracy of the detected gender and features adjustable settings including trigger levels and detection area. Data points trigger age- or gender-specific content to display. This is a small solution, easy to integrate and non-intrusive, with applications including retail and museum exhibitions.
Omron HVC-P2 Human Vision Component Delivers High Image Recognition Speed. This is an integrated module that includes a camera and an image processing board.
Incorporates ten image detection functions for use in digital signage applications, home and office automation and security, including body detection, facial and hand recognition, age estimation, of sex and expression.
The module is based on Omron's Okao Vision software, a proven set of image recognition algorithms used in more than 500 millions of digital cameras, mobile phones and surveillance robots around the world.
