Extron Optimizes AV Systems at Chatham Conference Center

Chatham County was looking for a high-performance AV system with intuitive control for its new Agriculture and Conference Center (CCACC). This center is located on the outskirts of Pittsboro (North Carolina) and houses the main buildings, including the agriculture office, natural resources and forest service. It is also one of the largest conference venues in the county offering flexibility to host public and private events.

The approximately 743 square meters of the CCACC include two divisible spaces, an exhibition hall and a conference area. By using sliding walls, the exhibition hall can be configured into three spaces and the conference area into four meeting rooms of equal size.

Retractable sliding walls are self-configurable, with integrated detection functions. By pressing a button, AV system detects the position of each sliding wall, identifies and assigns the sources and display devices available for each space, and adjust AV features with default settings. This AV system supports room requirements and configuration of each space from a central location.

The integrator was used Strategic Connections to design and install the AV switching and distribution system and opted for Extron. 32 matrix switching was selected×32 XTP II CrossPoint 3200 due to its modularity, versatility and reliability. It is set to 16×16, providing ample scope for future expansion.

Seven XTP CP 4K twisted pair input and output cards enable extension of video signals, bi-directional audio and control between the matrix switcher in the central equipment room and the various remote sources and displays, regardless of the configuration of the divisible spaces.

Extron twisted pair XTP transmitters and receivers work with the matrix switcher and send signals to remote devices. This XTP II CrossPoint matrix switcher also includes an XTP CP 4o SA output audio card to provide connections to the sound system.

Three DMP digital matrix processors 128 Extron ATs provide audio processing and Dante networking. They offer audio sources to the center's Dante network. In addition to supporting almost 100 Dante flows, each 12 audio processor×8 integrates ProDSP technology, mixing and other features that facilitate efficient sound management for the different activities carried out in the CCACC's configurable spaces. Extron SF 3C LP and SI 26CT ceiling speakers positioned throughout the building, provide a well-balanced mix of voice reinforcement and music playback.

The TLP Pro 1022M and TLP Pro 520M TouchLink Pro wall-mount touchscreens are strategically installed on fixed walls, enabling familiar, easy-to-use AV system control at installation. Two IP Link Pro IPCP Pro control processors 350 They work in combination with the touch screens of 10 y 5 inches to control AV signal routing, sources and display devices. Four Apple iPad tablets with the Extron Control app make it easy to manage the system at the facility.

SCI used Extron Global Scripter to program the control system. They highlighted the power of its IDE – integrated development environment. Provides easy management of system functional ins and outs and active device I/O testing among other essential tasks.

In addition, installed a sophisticated divisible room system that meets all requirements using Extron XTP signal routing and TouchLink Pro control. Configurable spaces are regularly used for meetings, receptions and exhibitions of different magnitude.
