The Aquarium of St. Louis unites immersive visual design and entertainment to welcome its visitors
Analog Way's Picturall Pro Media Server, with hard drives larger than 8 TB of performance, drives this immersive design and entertainment environment created by DE- ŹYN Studios in this city in the United States.
Named The Entrance Experience, access to the new St Aquarium. Louis, created by OF- ŹYN Studios, does not leave anyone indifferent, to the point of becoming the centerpiece of an entertainment and design attraction for all audiences.
The new aquarium and other attractions are located in the center of this city in the state of Missouri (USA) at the National Historic Landmark train shed in St. Louis Union Station Hotel, which was inaugurated in 1894 as the largest and busiest train terminal in the nation.
Besides, The Entrance Experience recently won an award from the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) for “crossing the threshold of entertainment design in new and unexpected ways.”, fusing fantasy and reality through a careful blend of art and technology created by DE-ŹYN Studios”.
Advanced LED video technology, impact visual media, An original score and a masterfully executed virtual train ride attraction broadly make up this turnkey project that transports guests to the immersive world of the aquarium..
DE-ŹYN Studios, with offices in Orlando, New York, San Francisco and Vancouver, supervised the design and execution for The Entrance Experience, working directly with LHM in the selection creative means and with the aquarium designer PGAV Destinations in the integration of technology.
The Entrance Experience is displayed on the panels that make up the Led screen, with pixel pitch 2,7 mm seamless and customized by DE-ŹYN Studios, that rise from a window, in the shape of a fish tank, to cover the ceiling of the barrel vault of the room, with a change of direction from side to side forward/backward.
“We wanted to create a kind of ‘Fantasy’ ballet.’ in this great hall, with a series of vignettes lasting three to five minutes and combining an original music score, marine life, “water and natural elements in a very stylized way to ‘immerse’ visitors in a world of magic from the moment they arrive at the aquarium.”, explains John Miceli, creative head and founder of DE-ŹYN Studios.
To achieve, images float around the wall in a fishbowl shape above, above and below that enormous palette created by architecture. Whales, dolphins, fish of all kinds, sharks, jellyfish, striped blanket, sardines and many other sea creatures show their special movements synchronized with the music score in this space, next to an underwater station that looks 3D to the naked eye.
“At whatever point the visitor is in this space there is always an endless amount of ‘wow’ to surprise him or her.”, whether you see an entire vignette or just part of one - explains Miceli- or feel how it transforms into a quite three-dimensional and colorful underwater observatory, and synchronized with the score. Everything is carefully and artistically designed to be simple and spectacular”.
To play the high-resolution content of this visual canvas 14.533.632 pixels, DE-ŹYN Studios team chose Analog Way's Picturall Pro media server, with hard drives 8 TB of performance and NVME.
“We could manage this customized LED video wall with specific, high-resolution content using a single very high-quality Picturall Pro with repeatability,” says Brian Smith., sales manager in this area of Analog Way-. The system also has entry cards, so if the space is rented for an event, external sources can be connected and other content supported”.
As Miceli adds, “This was the first time we have worked with Analog Way and we are very happy with the results, since we show a lot of high resolution content and we didn't want anything that wasn't perfect. Besides, “The support from the company team was excellent throughout the project”.
