Martin Audio presents its first constant curvature array and 3D prediction software

Martin Audio, brand distributed by Audio-Technica Iberia, has presented its first constant curvature array, Torus, and the new 3D prediction and optimization software, Display 3.
In applications where projection of 15-30 metros, Using a conventional line array is not always a practical solution, optimal or affordable. On the other hand, a point source solution may not offer sufficient coverage and SPL. Torus is a constant curvature array, designed to fill that void, combining optimized coverage, SPL profile and profitability.
“It is much more than just another constant curvature array. We have invested three years in the development of Torus, making enormous efforts to push the acoustic concept and obtainable performance further. Normally, Constant curvature arrays have adjustable horizontal dispersion but, when different dispersions are selected, Its performance can vary considerably in terms of shade and effectiveness of coverage.. In the same way, many lack sufficient sensitivity in the mid frequencies, which are vitally important for the projection and clarity of the voice. They also suffer from comb filtering. Torus addresses these and other problems”, comments Dom Harter, managing director.
Each Torus enclosure has been designed to offer a flexible horizontal dispersion pattern and can be manually adjusted between 90, 60 o 75° (asymmetric) through its exclusive Dynamic Horn Flare. This not only allows the waveguide to be moved and locked, but also adjusts the mouth of the horn, including low diffraction termination on baffle, ensuring correct geometry and optimal performance in each of those configurations.
Dynamic Horn Flare moves by means of a rotating mechanism, accessible from front grille, easily and intuitively, leaving the grille design and transducer protection intact.
Two different and independent types of enclosures allow two vertical pattern models to be obtained: T1215 (15°) and T1230 (30°). Both can be combined to meet the needs of the venue and its coverage..
This constant curvature array features a phase corrector mounted on the front of the 12” neodymium transducer., which increases sensitivity in mid frequencies. It is, along with three 1.4” HF compression transducers and polymer dome, makes it possible that sound performance is not compromised, even when working with high SPL levels.
Display 3
Torus is also the first product to benefit from the advantages offered by Display 3, the new prediction and optimization software developed by Martin Audio.
It has been conceived as a powerful tool, both for installations and for direct. Works with Sketchup for sophisticated space modeling, but it also allows the creation of simpler shapes and spaces.
Initially, Display 3 natively supports Torus prediction and optimization, with line arrays imported from Display 2. However, later, will incorporate all line array solutions, point source, Martin Audio ceiling and subwoofer, providing a complete autonomous system prediction and design platform.
“These two important announcements demonstrate both the company's ability to adapt and its ambition.”. During the pandemic, We have adopted a proactive vision regarding continuity in investment in R&D and have reinforced the belief that companies that constantly add value to their customers will have a better future. The introduction of Torus allows Martin Audio to compete in more applications and Display 3 will be further developed into 3D design and prediction software capable of improving the work lives of installation and live event professionals”, Harter said.
