Genelec integrates Aural ID in plugin format available for DAW
Available for most digital audio workstations (DAW), Genelec has integrated Aural ID, your headphone calibration tool in this plugin, with which SAM monitor users can also import calibration files.
Using a simple video shot sent by the user through the app Aural ID Creator, the manufacturer Genelec analyzes the way the user's head, the outer ear and upper body affect and color the audio arriving in all directions.
This effect is totally unique to each person and is called HRTF (Head-related transfer function). Aural ID's cloud-based calculation engine models the characteristics of the user's own head and upper torso from the video to calculate their personal HRTF.
This information allows audio to be accurately rendered in any direction with the Aural ID plugin, which is available in formats VST, AAX y AU to be easily integrated into any DAW.
One of the new features of the Aural ID plugin version is the ability to compensate for sound coloration that any headset adds. There are two ways to achieve it: using a individually adjusted equalizer for a listing of headphone models specified within the plugin, or based on a generalized response mode that supports any model of professional headphones.
The Aural ID plugin also makes it easier for monitor users General SAM import calibration files directly from the software control GLM, which allows you to replicate the response of your room monitoring system and generate a complete ecosystem, with a 'more natural' connection between this monitoring and headphones.
Besides, This connection is enhanced by the plugin's ability to create and store a virtual model of the user's room monitoring setting., along with making fine adjustments to the spatial location of the virtual monitor, level alignment, the listener's orientation in azimuth and elevation, and a total equalization of the system.
Clouded Cloud from Geneque
The Aural ID plugin is available directly from the Genelec cloud platform, through a subscription service (with individual licenses, corporate and educational), offering continuous access to updates, future Aural ID features and help.
As pointed out Siamäk Naghian, director general de Genelec, “While we firmly believe that in-room monitoring is unrivaled in the recording and mixing process, High-quality headphones play an important role as a complementary tool. Aural ID empowers headphone users, which can freely switch between monitors and headphones, providing mixes that play consistently outside the studio”.
Another advantage highlighted by Naghian is that “Aural ID technology achieves this in a completely sustainable way.”, by not requiring equipment changes or consuming other precious natural resources. “We are confident that audio professionals will welcome the new features and flexible purchasing models now offered by the Aural ID plugin.”.
