LG's dvLed technology captivates visitors to the Savoy Automobile Museum
Made to measure, This unique American museum promotes the experience of its visitors and its promoters with three large DVD LED screens of LG, con 2,5 mm pixel pitch and concave and convex designs, mounted with custom brackets Peerless AV.
From the outside it is easy to discern that the new Savoy Automobile Museum from Cartersville (Georgia - EU) It is not a traditional museum. With an imposing façade of floor-to-ceiling windows in the enormous entrance hall, illuminated with colored lights that create incredible contrast, The exterior of the building reveals the captivating design and experience offered by its interior.
In addition to commemorating the history of the automobile with exhibitions and events, the new institution, with an area of more than 6.000 m2, Leverages the latest in direct-view LED display technology (dvLed) of LG Business Solutions to deliver captivating video content and provide digital canvases that enhance private events held there, as well as commercial messages from sponsors.
According to Tom Shinall, development director of the Savoy Motor Museum, The atmosphere created by these large screens is related to the theme of advances in automobile technologies.. “Every decision we make is part of an effort to maximize the visitor experience and expand the possibilities for hosting private events.”. With three huge LG digital screens with automotive-related content and museum information, “This space is unlike any other.”.
The goal for this non-profit cultural institution “is to maximize the usefulness of our interior spaces to host events,” adds Shinall., like the launch of a new vehicle, using the theater's rotating stage and 5.4x curved dvLed screen 9,4 metros, or offer a local couple a unique place to get married and have their videos broadcast on the curved and tilted 3-inch screen×7 meters located in the large room”.
The screens that have been installed in the theater and in the grand lobby are even more impressive, as they offer a curved design thanks to the flexibility of LG's visual systems and the manufacturer's custom dvLed video wall mounting systems Peerless AV.
With a concave design, theater screen wraps around the back of the stage, while it is located in the great room, it fits the curve of a convex ceiling and is inclined 8 degrees to offer greater visibility to guests.
In addition to these two screens, A 1" dvLed screen has been installed×7 meters above the theater entrance to invite customers to enter the room and promote films and exhibitions. All screens use dvLed technology 2,5 LG pixel pitch mm, ideal for large format visual systems that require visibility at a distance.
Tim Carrigan, senior program director at LG Business Solutions USA, explains that the project design required dvLed screens in sizes, custom aspect ratios and curves. “The versatility of our dvLed line allows us to create large seamless screens, vibrant images and a unique viewing experience for the customer by creating convex and concave systems”.
In the specific case of the museum, dvLed technology was essential, as Carrigan emphasizes, “compared to others that are not only potentially more expensive, but they involve more complicated wiring, Additional headend equipment and mounting solutions, in addition to introducing unpleasant bevels that divide the images and limit the total size to fixed increments”.
To ensure that each dvLed screen integrates perfectly into the architecture of the building, LG and Savoy museum officials worked with mounting system manufacturer Peerless-AV to design and install custom mounts.
Among other key considerations when working with large dvLed screens, Kevin McDonald, Senior Director of Business Development at Peerless-AV, points out that “first of all, there is no flat wall and, in second, the supports do not hang themselves. A substructure is often needed to provide a completely flat and level surface to hang the stand and ensure the display is easily mounted. Luckily, This building has a concrete construction, that made everything easier”.
Through the video wall integration program Seamless by Peerless-AV (more data in Digital AV) its team of experts provided start-to-finish on-site advice and design and engineering support, including the delivery of two custom dvLed mounting systems and another standard flat wall mounting system.
The Peerless-AV team meticulously calculated the radius and fit in Z Mounting system for concave screen, as well as for the convex video wall “whose inclination made it even more complex,” McDonald recalls.. One more time, the adjustment of the mounting system made this installation a resounding success, resulting in stunning digital canvases that are perfectly aligned, “no visible seams”.
The technological part of the museum was supervised by the integration company Southern Digital Design, based in Georgia, y Daniel Purcell directed the specific designs necessary for each dvLed screen installed in the museum.
“This is the type of project that shows what is possible with the latest visualization technologies,” says Purcell.. We've brought together the right partners for an impressive digital experience, which I believe is unmatched by any other event venue in Georgia, except maybe some sports stadiums”.
As the museum's development director adds, Tom Shinall, “we have designed rental areas, with technological capabilities that other local places do not offer. We made a big request to our partners, y Southern Digital Design, LG and Peerless-AV delivered incredible results that helped us become known. When people visit the museum, We want you to be impressed and leave with memories and photos to share with your family and friends.”.
