Extron NAV connects KIAS researchers with international counterparts
Conference room VTC system includes multiple AV sources and display devices connected via network Extron NAV Pro.
He Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) required connectivity for video conferencing between meeting spaces within its main building and also for international participants. The simplicity of AV distribution over existing data network infrastructure using Extron NAV Pro AVoIP has made possible rapid design and installation.
“When KIAS leaders saw how the Extron NAV Pro AVoIP design could be expanded to accommodate meeting spaces of various sizes, “Almost immediately, planning began on the next phases of expanding its videoconferencing capabilities to extend the reach of its information exchange events.”, explica Dong Hee Ahn, general manager of Neuroo Digitech.
El Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) was founded in 1996 by the South Korean government to encourage research. Located in Seoul, in a surface where its members enjoy an environment of learning and discovery in the fields of mathematics, physics and computer science.
The institute is a destination for scientists from around the world conducting collaborative research. International meetings are held, seminars, workshops and courses where participants exchange ideas between different disciplines and disseminate their findings.
Challenges and design
To promote your collaboration goals, KIAS embarked on a project to equip its facilities with a system VTC (video teleconference) to connect your collaboration sessions, meetings and seminars to presentation spaces throughout the building and to scientists anywhere in the world.
After carrying out an initial study of potential VTC system suppliers, KIAS hired its Seoul-based AV distributor, Neuroo Digitech. The solution chosen was Extron's NAV Pro AV over IP platform., as it allowed reaching local and remote destination points.
Required connectivity for video teleconferencing between four meeting spaces within its main building, which include a conference room with capacity for one hundred people and three meeting rooms with capacity for 30 personas.
These venues also needed VTC connectivity for international participants via the Internet.. Neuroo Digitech completed the system design in one month and, next, proceeded with the installation, what took him 15 days.
The simplicity of AV distribution across the company's data network infrastructure made a rapid design and installation plan possible..
Conference room VTC system includes multiple AV sources and displays connected via the Extron NAV Pro network.
Attendees at sessions in the conference room watch 4K video on a projection screen and two flat-panel display devices. 129 inches.
AV sources available to presenters include a computer, three PTZ cameras with joystick control and a VTC hardware codec. A ceiling array microphone captures the sound of the room, while presenters speak into wireless microphones.
All audio from the microphones passes through a DSP audio conferencing processor and mixer to combine the different sound sources, perform acoustic echo cancellation and apply other sound settings before transmitting to ceiling speakers.
Content is streamed to remote audiences via the VTC hardware codec and via the Zoom unified communications platform.
Un switch Ethernet de 1 Gbps performs AV switching to route AV sources to their destinations. AV sources connect to the switch via six Nave encoders 101, that convert HDMI signals to Ethernet. The switch sends selected sources to selected display devices through five NAV SD decoders 101 which convert Ethernet back to HDMI.
NAV encoders and decoders are configured by a NAVigator, a professional AV system manager over IP that, improved with LinkLicense, update of NAVigator con 96 destination point points, that controls the switching.
VTC of the conference room
VTC systems in the three meeting rooms to 30 people share the same layout as the conference room to 100. These VTC systems are identical to the conference room VTC system, except that these smaller spaces are equipped with a camera and a flat screen display device of 55 inches.
This has reduced the number of NAV Pro endpoints per room to four encoders and another four decoders.
Control from the lectern
Presenters can advance their PowerPoint presentation slides, make on-screen annotations and control the VTC system without distraction from the lectern.
They select VTC modes and functions using clearly marked buttons on the networked button panels. NBP 50 y NBP 200 from the lectern. Clicking only the well-labeled ones, presenters and moderators can select AV sources, turn on and off display devices and upload, lower or mute the volume via a control processor IPCP Pro 250 o IPCP Pro 550.
Configuration of the AV system before and after the meeting is carried out through an interactive user interface on the iPad Air from the lectern. An IPCP Pro control processor 350 Translates iPad Air user selections to AV system hardware commands and performs tasks. The LinkLicense to update the user interfaces of the IPCP Pro 350 Enables AV system control functionality on iPad Air.
