Brompton promotes virtual production at AIE with Led processing
This Australian film school, games and visual effects has chosen the Led Tessera SX40 processor from Brompton Technology, as well as its data distribution units, to power your studio video wall, designed with LED panels Liantronics.
Created as a not-for-profit organization to boost the creative digital sector in Australia, Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) It is the school specialized in games, most awarded cinema and visual effects in the country, and pioneer in this type of teaching.
Your Canberra Campus, in the center of the Australian capital, hosts the film school, which has a large set of virtual production, equipped with a large videowall, of 18.5×3,5 metros, composed of Liantronics Led panels and fed with Tessera SX40 processor of Brompton Technology and its data distribution units XD 10G card.
During the present 2023, AIE plans to build a new permanent film studio –AIE Film Studios-, which will have a larger sound stage (30x30x15 meters), with an expanded visual volume of 24×6 m; which represents a surface of 770 m² of Led panels, which will also have Brompton Led processing.
At first, This new studio will be used for the development of feature films and, later, for television production, as well as for students to carry out integrated practices with AIE industrial partners.
“We have been exploring the characteristics of different LED processing options to make the right decision in this commercial and training project, here in Australia and in other countries in the future - explains Lei Guo, president of strategic partnerships and investments at AIE-. We chose Brompton because its Tessera interface is much easier to use; offers extensive functions to manage how color is represented on our Led screens, as well as a host of camera-centric features, as ShuttterSync”.
In this process, Guo claims they even contacted their Led panel supplier to ensure all screens were configured with Brompton Led processing..
Besides, in AIE the only one is used Technodolly permanently available in Australia for motion control, which is used in all films with LED volume, while the visualization software is Unreal Engine.
The AIE Film School offers the world's first full-time two-year course that integrates virtual production technologies for film learning, including preview, virtual exploration techniques and virtual production shooting, in which real-time environments are used that provide graduates with the necessary knowledge demanded by the industry.
“To get started in virtual production you have to learn new techniques, and there is no better way to acquire them than on a real virtual production set - says Guo., in addition to working with cutting-edge technology, as with Liantronics Led panels and Brompton processing”.
“It's great that world-renowned educational organizations, like AIE Film School, integrate virtual production technologies into their film courses. This shows students that there is nothing to fear from this new technology.. In fact, can become a new access route to film production, and we are delighted that they have chosen our Led processing”, concludes Luke Hurford, Brompton Technology Asia-Pacific Technical Director.
