DiGiCo helps in the remodeling of the sound system of Five Lakes

Potters Resorts, one of the UK's oldest leisure operators, Just completed a multimillion-dollar remodel of the luxury resort Five Lakes, in Essex, which he acquired two years ago.

Improvements have been made to numerous existing facilities, An old sports hall has been converted into the Glade Theatre, A multifunctional performance space equipped with sound systems, State-of-the-art lighting and video. In addition, A new leisure complex has been built.

Being already an established user of DiGiCo (the theatre on its original site in Hopton On Sea has an SD10) and after consultation with Autograph Sound the company chose two DiGiCo consoles for the new installation, one Quantum 338 for FOH and another Quantum 225 for scenario monitoring.

Autograph subsequently supplied two SD Racks equipped with the new SD cards from 32 bits and a fiber network Optocore. The FOH console is also equipped with a Dante DMI card that provides connectivity for playback and for the DSP-controlled amplifiers that power the new speaker system. D&b audiotechnik.

The theatre, with the capacity to 650 Spectators, It is perhaps one of the most working in the country, as the company stages an almost continuous program of shows.

“The show is very varied, with frequent artist changes, often very fast, so much of the design at Five Lakes was geared towards making this as easy and reliable as possible for the technical team.. For example, The public address system is divided into zones and configured in such a way that it can be instantly switched from one mode to another depending on the production and layout of the room.. The Glade Theatre at Five Lakes operates seven nights a week, working mainly with his own company and presenting all kinds of shows, From cabaret rock and pop to cruise ship style ‘Best Of British‘ to Broadway/West End style productions, Stand up comedy and even conferences and corporate events.

"We make our systems work hard because of the sheer volume of work and variety of styles., but the range of tools available on DiGiCo consoles means there's nothing they can't handle.; literally, We never find ourselves looking for a feature that isn't there”, Explains Lawrence Chandler, Technical Director of the Potters Resorts Group.

A great example of the Quantum advantage is nodal processing.. “Like all our cast uses in-ear headphones, This feature allows vocalists to obtain a high level of clarity and precision. Performers can order pretty much anything in terms of their own mix and we can make it happen because Quantum has that lot of extra tools.”, Lawrence continues.

Switching quickly between performers and acting styles is also key.. “The ability to restructure the console engine to suit our needs as they switch between acting styles is fabulous.. I've often thought that the only time you realize the full potential of a DiGiCo is when you have to use something else.", Lawrence concludes.
