DiGiCo and Fourier Audio advance live sound with transform.engine
Known until now under the code name 'Project core', and now official transform.engine, result of the association between DiGiCo y Fourier Audio, puts studio-quality, Dante-connected VST3 plugins within reach of live engineers.
Fruit of the union of technologies DiGiCo y Fourier Audio, the new transform.engine It's a yesserver connected to Dante designed for Run all native VST3 software plugins in a live environment, Bringing studio software to live sound and production applications.
Housed in a 2U touring chassis with dual redundant power supplies, This device is fully compatible with any VST3 plugin that can run on Windows, giving engineers and creatives easy access to a powerful studio processing within a reliable platform, Designed specifically for the rigors and complexities of live productions.
Designed as a turnkey solution for plugin hosting, transform.engine is easily controlled by a remote client app for Windows or macOS, reducing configuration complexity: Simply connect to the motor using a standard Ethernet cable, install your plugin and start processing directly.
For greater reliability, the audio software engine, patent pending by Fourier Audio, provides a sturdy litter box, with plugin isolated from each other. If one crashes, the rest will not only be unaffected, but transform.engine will immediately restart that plugin, quickly restoring the original integrity of the mixture.
The new transform.engine will soon put plugin control directly under engineers' fingers on their own work surfaces, starting with DiGiCo consoles.
However, just like the sister brand products KLANG:technologies, This Fourier Audio device can work with virtually any professional digital console of the market through Dante, Using Windows/macOS app to control the motor.
This device, whose commercialization is scheduled for first quarter of 2024 and will include an optional software subscription package, has been tuned to offer the lowest latency solution on the market yet for hosting VST3 plugin, while preserving server reliability and performance.
Henry Harrod, CEO of Fourier Audio, has invited studio software manufacturers “to contact us to offer their plugins as part of the open transform.engine ecosystem.”. We want to introduce them to a totally new market segment that they have not had access to until now., as well as offering live sound engineers not only 'good’ emulations of various studio plugins, but the authentic versions you could want from the world of professional recording. “We all win.”.
In this line, Gareth Owen, CCO de Fourier Audio, notes that “there are many other approaches to VST hosting, but when you have a theater, an arena or stadium full of people listening to your show, there is no margin for error. With the backing and support of DiGiCo we are building the ultimate plugin solution”.
The Fourier Audio engineering team, led by technical director Peter Bridgman, has followed two years of intense R&D with a recent collaboration with DiGiCo to deliver an entirely new hardware platform for transform.engine.
For your part, John Stadius, DiGiCo technical director, has collaborated closely with the Fourier Audio team: “It has been an exciting challenge for our teams to design a new custom hardware platform. The Fourier Audio equipment reminds me of a DiGiCo in its beginnings, and that enthusiasm has motivated us all to achieve it”.
