Telefonica Matsuko and Nvidia holographic meetings

Using 5G technology and the operator's Edge, as well as the artificial intelligence platform Nvidia Maxine, Telefónica y Matsuko propose that users can attend holographic meetings representing themselves in 3D.

Matsuko and Telefónica have announced the launch of a spatial computing experience for holographic meetings, developed in collaboration with Nvidia, that will allow participants to connect and collaborate fluidly and in real time as if they were holograms. In this way, have made a breakthrough by allowing anyone to have a real presence during 3D meetings.

With your smartphone camera, attendees can attend holographic meetings representing themselves in 3D and share their creations in 3D, enjoying a new and immersive way of communication.

With a patent in single-camera holographic communication, Matsuko will also present its product for users of Apple Vision Pro.

The experience, which will be demonstrated in the Mobile World Congress 2024 from Barcelona, will allow users to generate their own holograms using their smartphone cameras, as well as transmit high-resolution 3D objects and scenes using 5G and Edge technology.

“With our 5G and Edge technologies, we are enabling a new level of connectivity and performance in holographic meetings., that will transform the way participants communicate and collaborate with each other”, states David Moro, Head of Service Platforms & Telefónica Voice Core Network.

The technology will use the platform for developers Nvidia Maxine IA to create eye contact and realistic facial expressions that reinforce the feeling of presence and immersion. Users will be able to interact with other participants and their 3D projects holographically, as if they were in the same physical space, no delays, misunderstandings or 2D limitations.

“Holographic meetings represent the future of collaboration experiences. When using the Nvidia Maxine development platform, Matsuko's new spatial calculation experience allows users to better maintain eye contact and see accurate facial expressions, “two essential aspects for effective communication and emotional connection”, indica Chris Penrose, global head of Business Development for the telecommunications sector at Nvidia.
