Located in the highest exhibition hall in Europe, The immersive element of this exhibition about the beauty and life of the ocean is 'The Wave', created by Ars Electronica with equipment 30.000 lumens of Epson and screens BY Stumpfl, to offer visitors 1.200 m2 of projection under different angles.

Inaugurated a few weeks ago in Gasometer Oberhausen, considered the highest exhibition hall in Europe, This former gas depot located in the German city of Oberhause surprises visitors with the new permanent display Planet Ocean, about the depths and diverse life forms of the world's oceans.

The most spectacular installation in this new exhibition is The Wave (The Wave): a immersive projection of 1.200 m2 showing realistic images and animations of the mysterious world of the sea of 40 meters high, created and executed by the Austrian specialist Ars Electronica Solutions.

Ars Electronica Planet Ocean La OlaThis large projection surface is configured in two parts: a vertical screen 40 metros height of BY Stumpfl and a translucent horizontal canvas, that surround visitors from different angles thanks to the installation of seven laser projectors of the model EB-L300000 of Epson, a compact team of 30.000 lumens.

Thanks to it, visitors enjoy a unique immersive visual experience, with a full resolution of 60 million pixels, depending on their position in the room, to enjoy the movement of schools of fish through a forest of bioluminescent algae, humpback whales and more.

When visitors move below the horizontal screen (called Gaze), They dive into the depths of the ocean and even have the opportunity to interact with specific content.

Ars Electronica Planet Ocean La OlaThe scenes represented are made manually and animated, result of a laborious creative process for its staging, whose artistic direction corresponds to the Ars Electronica Solutions team, in close collaboration with Nils Sparwasser, advisory curator of the exhibition Planet Ocean.

In addition to this special visual conception, a prominent element of The Wave What enhances this immersive experience is its integration into industrial architecture de Gasometer Oberhausen, the highest exhibition hall in Europe.

Ars Electronica Solutions took advantage of the unique conditions of this gas storage tower to create the impression that the surface of the sea merges with the ceiling structure of the room, that is enhanced with the immersive sound experience created by the Austrian composer Rupert Huber.
