The Aquilon C+ 4K/8K multi-screen presentation system and video wall processor Analog Way have been key to managing the enormous CB5 curved Led screen of ROE Visual on the main stage of this important music festival.
Founded in 1999, he Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2024 It is celebrated annually in the Empire Polo Club from Indian (California – EU) and brings together artists from many musical genres for two weekends, as well as artistic installations and sculptures.
In its edition 2024, held in mid-April, Goldenvoice y NEP Screenworks they hired Tim Nauss, general director of Dapper Productions, as a screen producer for the Coachella main stage, with the choice of technology Analog Way.
“Using Analog Way in many of my shows has been a good testing ground for using the Aquilon C+ on the main stage at Coachella -explains Nauss-; the most important American festival of the year”.
To Connor Cronk, Analog Way Inside Sales and Support Specialist, “Aquilon C+ was a great choice for its low latency, its layering capabilities and all the power it provides in a single box, eliminating the need to pair multiple devices. Besides, The system is easy to use and the learning curve is relatively short”.
Most days, Five different artists performed on the main stage, “each with its own content, creative team and, often, their own servers - emphasizes Sean W Green, technical director of screens at the festival, as well as your company More serious-. My role with Aquilon C+ was to ensure that the artists' content interacted with the screen quickly and looked the way they wanted..
An old broadcast truck was refurbished during the festival. “The entire infrastructure of the screens was integrated, including Analog Way”, Nauss explains.. To connect to guest computers, They had a router HDMI 8x FOH and another HDMI 16x to the right of the stage, that powered a 48x router in this mobile unit, “for both Aqulon, one main and one reserve, both running all the time”.
As Green adds, “in Aquilon we had five layers for upscaling with UHD inputs, three layers assigned to PIPing IMAG, plus funds for native tickets. The first 17 Aquilon tickets were for guests; the tickets 18 a 20 were reserved for the interstitials of the house, showing scenic California landscapes between acts, and the tickets 21 a 24 They were program feeds and backups and two emergency ones for advertisements, if necessary”.
Nauss and his team designed the screen workflow to be able to accommodate all the guests' signals from their arrival at the venue until the end of the show.
“Other festival stages typically host one or two systems at a time. On the main stage we were able to establish and maintain the alignment of a full day of guest signals -continued-. With so many entries, Analog Way allowed us to monitor the signals, detect any problem and solve it”.
