Alfonso Luria (d&b audiotechnik): “New U Series offers point source loudspeakers, very versatile and compact”
Alfonso Luria, Sales Manager Iberia in d&b audiotechnik, stands out in this video interview at Integrated Systems Europe (WHEREAS) 2026 some of the latest developments such as the U Series, o new proposals for audio transmission over Ethernet, with four Milan-enabled products that expand the d ecosystem&b Milan. The CCLi system also stands out, The compact cardioid in-line array for fixed installations that delivers precise sound and elegant design.
The modern and neutral design with respect to the application of the Series U Integrates into both touring and installation configurations. Thanks to its discreet industrial appearance, no rigging points or visible handles, It is camouflaged in the installation project, respecting architectural or aesthetic restrictions. Its solid and robust construction, with high quality materials and finishes, brings an electroacoustic design concept that makes no concessions. The bipolar woofer configuration expands the vertical directivity control up to ±500 Hz. All versions offer identical low frequency performance up to 55 Hz and incorporate the port design technology developed for the SL Series, ensuring full-range consistency and support for full-range performance for non-subwoofer nearfield applications.
Each model features a new waveguide trumpet assembly, patent pending, what can be rotate 90° without tools and provides superior broadband high-frequency dispersion control and extraordinary off-axis behavior.
The first U Series models include three passive speakers (U3, U5, U7) y three speakers in hybrid topology network (U3N, U5N, U7N). The passive and network versions are physically and acoustically identical, allowing users to choose the perfect system architecture solution that meets the specific requirements of their project or event. Luria emphasizes that this proposal “stands out for its excellent efficiency and precise control of directivity”.
Ecosystem d&b Milan
Another topic highlighted at the stand of d&B Audiotechnik in ISE 2026 was the advance in technologies audio streaming over ethernet, with four new Milan-enabled products that expand the ecosystem of d&b Milan and allow users to create expandable audio systems, resilient and future-ready.
These new features are included in the Milan range: DS22, an audio network bridge; DS1, a USB to Milan interface; DN2, an AVB switch; y 5DM, the Milan-enabled version of the famous 5D installation amplifier. Both 5D and 5DM match perfectly with the new 42S speaker, an ultra-compact, multi-use solution for applications where size and acoustics are important.
“Last year we already presented you the implementation of the Milan system in the company. This year we expand the proposal with new solutions and we talk to you about four systems that we have presented at this stand”, comments Luria.
The Audio Network Bridge DS22 Simplifies input management in Milan-based audio systems with sixteen AES3 digital input channels, four of which can be switched to analog. It is a Milan enabled switch, Five-port and flexible input options make it perfect for connecting mixers at festivals or in venues with Milan-compatible amplifiers. Located near the FoH table, this device 1 RU expands workflow «d&b Workflow» to include the input device, to offer a familiar and protected operating environment in touring and fixed installations.
DS1 is a USB to Milan interface that allows direct playback and recording of audio from PCs and Macs to Milan devices and amplifiers. It is compact and robust, perfect for systems and FoH technicians, as well as for creatives. Dual network interfaces support redundant audio streaming, while the intuitive configuration of the interface and its ease of use make the Milan network more accessible. Firmware updates are done through Milan Manager, the software that simplifies the configuration and management of Milan-AVB networks, ensuring continued compatibility and performance.
He 5DM It is a compact installation amplifier, Four-channel, Class D speaker designed for use with D series loudspeakers.&b, including Series E, xS, xC y T, in addition to the new passive models of the U Series. The 5DM includes advanced digital signal processing (DSP) for specific speaker configurations, a wide range switching power supply mode with active power factor correction and comprehensive system protection and management functions. With two primary Milan streams of eight channels each, four analog inputs and flexible routing, The 5DM offers efficient and reliable amplification, plus effortless integration into various configurations.
He DN2 is the only Milan-AVB switch designed specifically to integrate with d's new U Series networked speakers.&b. These features make it ideal for use in demanding applications and immersive audio environments.. With eight PoE++ ports offering up to 90 W per port, DN2 can power U Series networked speakers using a single cable. Reliable and convenient operation is guaranteed thanks to zero configuration required, plug and play execution, Optimized deployment of intuitive error feedback and integration with d's R1 remote control software&b.
CCLi and 42S
An ISE 226, d&B Audiotechnik attracted attention with the new CCLi compact cardioid line, designed specifically for installation applications. Based on the success of the CCL System, which was presented in January 2025, CCLi offers the same technical advantages and acoustic properties and, besides, adds specific functions tailored to fixed installations.
CCLi system provides exceptional performance, compact dimensions (209 × 593 × 355 mm) and an attractive design, making it ideal for system integrators, consultants and venue owners who are looking for an innovative installation solution, powerful and elegant. Offers broadband directivity control (until 60 Hz) with cardioid behavior in low frequencies to focus acoustic energy in the intended areas of the audience. This feature reduces unwanted low frequency reflections from the side and rear walls, minimizing reverberation in the most acoustically demanding spaces.
CCLi has a high frequency dynamic range y minimizes distortion to ensure greater perceptible intelligibility. With regards to efficiency and scalability, CCLi stands out thanks to its operation with a single amplifier channel. CCLi also offers other features that address the needs of the installation market.: and discreet design with a new integrated front grille with fewer visible rigging elements; side panels replacing the CCL System handles with flush side grilles and an optional Euroblock Phoenix connector panel with sealed grommet.
CCLi is a versatile solution for installation applications, in which precision and extent of directivity control are key, the concentration of power, elegant design and cost-effectiveness. “On the whole, They are an ideal solution for small rooms and tighter budgets”, highlights Luria.
Finally, Alfonso Luria presents the new 42S, “an ultra-compact point source loudspeaker with excellent acoustic performance”. As the newest member of the xS Series of d&b, the 42S speaker (brother of 44S) offers a extraordinary control of broadband dispersion at high frequencies y expanded low frequency performance. Includes the same benefits and mounting options as its cousin, but in a smaller size. This is a passive speaker 2 tracks that incorporates a low-frequency neodymium motor of 4,5 inches and an asymmetrical convex high-frequency speaker of 0,75 inches. Its 120°x 90° dispersion (h x v) offers uniform coverage, precise directivity and high perceptible intelligibility. Besides, offers a wide selection of mounting options, which include built-in installation and a complete offer of customized solutions that allow it to be integrated impeccably into all types of enclosures, both in hospitality and in artistic performances or places of worship.
