James Cameron's strategic agreement with Christie
The agreement between Lightstorm Entertainment and Christie, announced coinciding with IBC, seeks to accelerate development of next-generation 3D cinema technology. The collaboration will include technical assistance from Christie for the production of 'Avatar' 2 y 3.
In a move designed to accelerate the development and adoption of next-generation 3D digital cinema, Christie y Lightstorm Entertainment, a James Cameron company, have signed a significant five-year agreement to exchange evidence, developments and technical support in the most exciting new technology in the industry. Cooperation between two of Hollywood's digital cinema powerhouses heralds a significant shift in how movies will be made and viewed in theaters. “I have selected Christie for this ‘journey of discovery’ because the company is fully committed to my vision.”, and share my dedication to continually push the boundaries of digital cinema.”, Cameron commented. “Lightstorm is committed to realizing the full potential of 3D and high frame rate technology to fully immerse audiences in the world of cinema”, Craig Sholder noted, vice president of Christie's Entertainment Solutions division. “This alliance promises to unleash a new wave of enthusiasm, creativity and innovation in film making, that will provide audiences with an incomparable feeling of total immersion in the cinema experience”, Sholder added. Share experience, equipment and intellectual capital As part of its agreement with Lightstorm, Christie to Provide Latest 3D-Capable Solaria Series Projectors, continued access to emerging 3D research and development, and contributing to Lightstorm's 3D-related critical-use engineering and high frame rate innovation. Christie will also help equip Cameron's new production facility, including two screening rooms that will serve as the virtual production locations for the next two Avatar installments, the most successful film in history using Cameron's innovative 3D technology. In exchange, Lightstorm will share its 3D discoveries with Christie, high frame rates, and the improvements, formats and color space requirements for optimal viewing experience. This knowledge will in turn be used to improve Christie 3D technology as it relates to desired projector and server functionality., as well as to help Christie create industry-leading toolkits for exhibition and post-production markets and applications.. Lightstorm will provide content samples for testing and demonstration of technical improvements, for the global promotion of Christie's 3D technology. “With the right server technology, our Series projectors 2 They are already fully capable of being updated to offer a higher frame rate. The agreement between Lightstorm and Christie also provides Lightstorm access 24/7 al Christie Network Operations Center (NOC), support via call center, and replacement parts included in all Christie warranty services to all displays.
