Projectiondesign instala 6 Projectors at Gates Planetarium in Denver
The Gates Planetarium at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science (EU) has managed to reduce its expenses thanks to the update of its projection equipment, installing six new projectiondesign F32 series DLP projectors.
The Gates Planetarium at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science has installed 6 DLP projectors of the F32 series from the Norwegian manufacturer projectiondesign as part of a major technology upgrade to the facility, that has the capacity to 125 people and is used to show a wide range of immersive movies, some of which are produced in the Museum itself.
Tim Nicholson, director of Exhibit Technology and Systems Development at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, has explained: “Our previous system was a 11 projectors that proved unreliable and extremely high cost. The six F32 projectors have been combined by our systems integrator to form a perfect dome display. 360 by 160 degrees, at a high resolution 3.300 by 3.300 pixels”.
The specialist in immersive displays Global Immersion designed and integrated the multi-channel projection system as part of its Fidelity Bright digital solution, including customized management of the Planetarium's media and playback systems, while the Museum team designed and installed other areas of the new technology, including multi-channel audio and lighting control systems.
“In addition to the immersive film content hosted on the Museum's servers, The Planetarium also offers live concerts “under the stars” and special events such as views of Earth from space using real-time navigation from the SCISS Uniview.”, Nicholson added. “So one of the special requirements we had was to find an easy way to switch between three different media server clusters - one for day-to-day operations, and two clusters for the development of special events-“.
Alan Caskey, director of Global Immersion in America, has indicated: “This reference space is one of many projects in which we have integrated projectiondesign technology. The high reliability and performance features of these projectors offer an attractive commercial-grade solution for us and our customers.. Our own experience working with these complex and demanding display solutions works hand in hand with the significant benefits that the projectiondesign product range offers.. ”
In this sense, Neil Wittering, director de Marketing de projectiondesign, has pointed: “Immersive environments like the Gates Planetarium require high-end projectors in terms of image quality.”, reliability and consistency, not just between multiple projectors at any given time, but also over time. We are delighted that the Museum has managed to reduce its operating costs thanks to our F32 projectors, “And we see these types of projects as validation of our no-compromise approach to designing high-performance products for commercial applications.”.
