Barco's Full HD LED technology helps monitor traffic in Valencia
The Valencia Traffic Control Center is an example of a comprehensive solution, in which Barco and the integrator Gesab have worked together to develop a 24x7x365 operating environment with the most advanced audiovisual systems, like a huge video wall 5×2 with LED technology composed of ten OL-721 modules of 70” allowing multiple vision, dynamic and configurable.
The new Valencia Traffic Management Center is equipped with a system that allows recording different situations according to needs and offers better management and multiple vision, thanks to a network of more than 700 cameras all over the city, united by 2.600 kilometers of fiber optic cable, that connect with a large LED technology screen to give a multiple vision, dynamic and configurable of Valencian roads.
This huge video wall supplied by Barco represents an authentic brain in the control and processing of the circulation of more than 500.000 metropolitan area vehicles, that every day circulate through the 300 kilometers of its main road network, allowing multiple vision, more dynamic handling and a system that makes it possible to record different situations depending on control needs.
Among the functions of this room, data collection and traffic status monitoring stand out.; processing the data obtained to optimize circulation; information to the public through panels and telephones; as well as the importance of engineering. in it, human teams work in shifts to cover the 24 hours, seven days a week. It is about “vertebrate” the city and respond to any situation that arises with “speed and comfort” for the more than 800.000 inhabitants of the urban center 1.500.000 in the metropolitan area. Added to all this are the 63 urban public transport lines, with a fleet of 480 vehicles to coordinate in real time.
Images from different sources
Juan Casañ Moret, director of the Valencia Traffic Management Center, has pointed: “We wanted this video wall to show images from the most diverse sources, like ours 753 cctv cameras, traffic management software, television, Internet, text documents, etc., and allows us to change the content easily. Above all, had to offer sharp images and bright colors and be easy to maintain. Visits to other traffic management centers and an extensive feasibility study convinced us that Barco was the best option to meet all these requirements.”.
Clear images and zero maintenance
The integrator Gesab was in charge of the design of the control room and installed the furniture and audiovisual equipment. Engineers set up Barco's video wall, consisting of ten 70" Full HD DLP LED projection modules” (OL-721), in a structure 5×2, with Apolo management software and a Transform A controller. The OL is a space-saving display cube, with a total video wall depth of less than 45 cm for a cube 50 inches. Ensures a Full HD image, with bright and saturated colors, that are maintained over time thanks to Sense6 sensor technology.
Based on liquid cooling, The advanced heat management system can lower the temperature of the LED light source by ten degrees. This solves the problem of excessive heat dissipation in the room and effectively doubles the life of the LED light source.. The system thus guarantees maintenance-free operation.
Easy setup
The main benefit of the installation, however, is the versatility and ease of use of the new video wall. “Our way of working has changed for the better”, added Juan Casañ Moret. “Our operators can now think hard about what data we want to see on the video wall and the way it is displayed. Images can be uploaded from a variety of sources., For example, from a particular CCTV camera or from an operator's screen, all in one wall design”.
Besides, all teams quickly configure their own scenarios, according to your tastes and needs. People who work weekend shifts have special scenarios when there is an important soccer game, for example, and there is a scenario for several days with heavy rain.
“El Application Programming Interface (API) from Apollo software, which now we are going to start using, will help us customize the content of the video wall more quickly and easily. This way, we will get an even greater return on our first investment”, Casañ Moret has concluded.
