Foodie.fm provides Finns with a virtual supermarket

Digital Foodie, a Finnish company based in Helsinki, has been working together with S Group's Elanto Cooperative Society, to convert the walls of some of the busiest spaces in the capital of Finland into virtual stores. So, The walls have come to life with virtual displays showing a selection of products with barcodes that customers can scan with their smartphones using the Foodie.fm shopping app to receive these products at home.. Orders placed before 3 in the afternoon are delivered on the same day.
Using out-of-home digital media not only to promote sales, but also to carry them out, These virtual stores have products from the Alepa supermarket chain of S Group, that has some 80 conventional stores in Helsinki area.
The CEO of Digital Foodie, Kalle Koutajoki, has commented: “Finns love their phones and the technology that makes their daily lives easier. Now, with virtual stores, Foodie.fm users can order food while waiting for the subway or tram, For example. S Group has had personalized online stores powered by Foodie for some time and now the new virtual store is a natural extension of its service.”
Foodie.fm already has 220.000 users in Finland (which represents approximately the 4% of the Finnish population), and the service is currently in beta testing in the UK.
