Sennheiser launches MKH microphone 8090 for orchestra recording
Sennheiser, German audio solutions manufacturer, adds the MKH model to its line of MKH studio microphones 8090, ideal for orchestra recordings as it is supercardioid. The launch will take place at the IBC fair (International Broadcasting Convention), which is celebrated between 6 and the 11 September in Amsterdam (Netherlands).
The audio specialist Sennheiser expands its MKH series of studio microphones with the new MKH 8090, Its wide cardioid pickup pattern makes it the ideal microphone for orchestral recordings. The RF condenser microphone is perfectly suited to function as both a main microphone and a backup microphone. An optional module can be used to convert it into a digital AES42 microphone.
Kai Lange, Product Manager for Sennheiser Wired Microphones, has explained: “El MKH 8090 combines omnidirectional and cardioid pickup patterns to produce a stunning orchestral microphone. Used as main microphone, collects the entire body of sound and a significant proportion of the room's acoustics, mientras que como micrófono de apoyo tiene directividad suficiente para descartar a otras fuentes de sonido sin hacer la grabación de sonido demasiado ‘constreñida'”.
Meticulous sound configuration
One of those responsible for developing the new microphone was Gregor Zielinsky, Sennheiser International Recording Applications Manager: “During the development of the MKH 8090, We have focused on ensuring that the microphone's sound perception is, precisely, between the omni-directional of the MKH 8020 and the cardioid of the MKH 8040. Through more settings, We have succeeded in creating a microphone with a sound that seems to 'glow', and that has great presence and musicality.
Accessories for (almost) all applications
El MKH 8090 It is an orchestra microphone for use as both a primary and secondary microphone. El MKH 8090 benefits from the wide range of accessories available for the series 8000, as microphone stands with different heights, various microphone clips, a shock montage, remote cables with different lengths, windshield and roof mount accessories.
The MZD digital module is also available as an accessory. 8000, which converts the MKH audio signal 8090 in a digital signal according to the AES42 standard (Way 2) directly into the microphone head, which guarantees a natural sound, no cable loss or interference from other sources.
Sennheiser MKH series works on the RF principle, that the firm has been using for more than 50 years and has developed to absolute perfection, for example through the use of symmetrical transducers.
