Brazil inaugurates the largest 4D Full Dome in Latin America

It has a hemispherical screen 14 meters in diameter and allows the projection of 180 of 360º, generating a complete immersive sensation.

Curitiba (Paraná, Brazil) has just inaugurated the largest 4D dome in Latin America. Through a naming right sponsorship, the space will be called FTD Digital Arena, thus leaving its mark, the main Brazilian publishing house focused on education, FTD.

With avant-garde architecture, space occupies an area of 980 square meters and is located on the Campus of the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUC-PR). The dome of 14 meters in diameter allows its hemispherical surface to project from 180 a 360 degrees, generating total immersion, which places the viewer in the scene with a totally immersive feeling. Fernando Moraes Fonseca Jr., Director of Innovation and New Media at FTD, has assured that “technology, unprecedented in Latin America, offers high-definition stereoscopic cinema projection, allowing students to experience complete immersion in the content”.

The space will be used to display educational content aimed at students from primary to higher education, offering fully interactive lessons in various areas of knowledge., and use for entertainment purposes or as a sophisticated digital planetarium.

“Instead of bringing technology to the educational field, we want to guide teachers in the use of these resources and collaborate effectively in student learning”, stated the commercial director of FTD, Ricardo Tavares.

The FTD Digital Arena has a capacity for 116 personas, accommodated in interactive seats that allow the viewer to control their participation in the presentation since each has a reclining and vibration system in order to have a better observation of the projection screen.

The entire technical design of the FTD Digital Arena has been developed by OmnisLux y Sky-Skan, dos empresas especializadas en tecnología estereoscópica digital y entornos inmersivos. The images are displayed thanks to four high-performance digital projectors and an immersive sound system with 13.000 watts.

In this first phase, FTD has acquired specific material for the FTD Arena Digital, but soon they hope to generate their own educational content.
