Bogotá today becomes the headquarters of the Smart City Expo show in Latin America

Of the 2 al 4 October, Bogotá is the headquarters of the first edition of Smart City Expo in Latin America, an initiative resulting from the collaboration between Fira de Barcelona and Corferias, which aims to promote smart cities in this area.

Smart City Expo Bogotá 2013 begins today its first edition of smart cities in the Colombian capital in order to provide intelligent initiatives that allow the sustainable development of the cities of the future.

The organization of the event is the result of collaboration between Barcelona Fair y Corferias, with the support and participation of the mayor of Bogotá, to present the business opportunities offered by this emerging sector. Fira de Barcelona has exported the Smart City Expo show to Latin America thanks to the agreement signed with Corferias (Bogotá International Business and Exhibition Center), responsible for the fair organization in South America, and the city mayor's office.

For the International Business Director of Fira de Barcelona, Ricard Zapatero, the appointment in Colombia “It is part of Fira's strategy of promoting the organization of events in those countries with the greatest growth and opportunities.. Besides, The event will have the participation of the Minister of Information and Communications Technologies of Colombia, Diego Molano; the Minister of Modernization of the autonomous city of Buenos Aires (Argentina), Andres Ibarra, the president of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, Monica De Greiff, and the mayor of Bogotá, Gustavo Petro.
