Madrid's Puerta de Alcalá has been transformed into its German counterpart in Bradenburg to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The next 9 November marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, a historic moment in the life of the German population that shocked the world, to which the city of Madrid has decided to join by using videomapping technology to transform one of its most emblematic monuments: the Puerta de Alcala in Bradenburg.

Organized by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in collaboration with the Madrid City Council, since its inauguration last day 6 and until the 9 November, at 21:00h, the history of construction, history and fall of the 45 Km of wall that separated the Western and Eastern bloc of Germany, will be recreated in the form of spectacular images, graphic and sound documents.

This projection show has had the artistic and narrative direction of the production company Manuel Coronado TV, who has also created video projections in the capital on the façade of the Cibeles Palace at Christmas 2006 y 2007 and other national and international visual proposals, together with the company AFC Project and the collaboration for the realization of 3D of the specialist in multimedia applications Cubensis.

Two projectors were used in its production., of 40.000 lumens each, from the Belgian firm Barco in dual configuration, since at first it was planned to do it in blending but due to the structure of the monument and location in the square, dual projection was chosen as the best solution..

The audiovisual commemorates the peaceful revolution that twenty-five years ago led to the fall of the Berlin Wall and paved the way for the reunification of Germany and Europe, whose symbol is the Brandenburg Gate, monument into which the Puerta de Alcalá will be transformed during the visual projection created for this occasion, also symbolizing the relations between Germany and Spain, as well as their capitals, Berlin and Madrid.

To this act, whose motto is 'Unity, Justice and Freedom, There are also other commemorative activities that will take place in the capital during the week, such as the photographic exhibitions '25th Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall' at the CentroCentro Cibeles and 'Hungría: sculptured freedom, in the embassy of this country that contributed to eliminating this symbol of the Cold War.

Besides, of the 10 al 19 November at the Cineteca offers the cycle, called ‘1989, the year that changed Europe', of films and documentaries of different nationalities about the events in the countries that were on the other side of the so-called Iron Curtain. The exhibition 'Walls between men' will be shown in Matadero de Madrid, by Alexandra Novosseloff and Frank Neisse, with a photographic tour of different separation walls that are still active today in the world.
